idvd for old G4

I  have a power pc G4 from 2000 that I left for my parents. I just discovered it doesn't have Idvd installed (though I bought it with super drive) it also have one of the first osx versions.

Is there any where I can find a free/cheap idvd for such an old computer?
will my Idvd work on that computer (I have a macbook intel)

Thanks

Danny

I would say so, and this is probably a good start:

Re: idvd for old G4

iLife was sold separately so iDVD is a part of that package. There isn't any free software that is as easy as iDVD, and most other software packages may be too complex or expensive, or just plain overkill for that machine and its intent. The easiest way would be to get a copy of OS X 10.2, .3 or .4 install disk. They came with iDVD bundled.

...but expect it to take overnight—if not all through the next day—to encode a full DVD.

Re: idvd for old G4

Like I said this is an old computer which I donated to my dad. It actually run 10.3.9 which I guess I upgraded from my then older ibook since it doesn't have idvd in it.
I do have idvd on the os 9 portion of this mac (yes, this is one of those old beasts with classic still in them)

I found a free ilife 4 download that doesn't seem to work, and it sux, since I did buy ilife 4 years ago but never used it and can't find it.

I also found a free version of idvd 7 but it doesn't work on this computer...

so any other suggestions are welcome

Re: idvd for old G4

more updates....

So I tried to copy my idvd 6 version into this old G4 beast and it almost work. Though for one, it claims the super drive is not supported (I did replace the super drive but its Pioneer DVDRW DVR-110D) and two idvd can't find the themes..

Darn, this is frustrating.

Now I'm not even sure if a legit idvd copy will work on this machine due to the super drive issue.
will it be possible to create a dvd image on this machine but burn the dvd on a pc?

Re: idvd for old G4

go to  xlr8yourmac and look for a patch to enable your drive under iDVD. There is one.

Re: idvd for old G4

I have an original (and currently unused) copy of iLife 05 on DVD.  PM me if you'd like it... I'll post it to you.

Re: idvd for old G4

Get a copy of PatchBurn (free) from versiontracker.com, the right
version for your OS. That'll get that 110 usable in Apple's iApps.
