Guess Apple's gonna have to sell 9.3 million iPhones the other three quarters- each their most fantasticalest evar! .. er, while guiding expectations downwards.

Apple sold a mere 717,000 iPhones during the quarter due to the still-unexplained shortages. Apple expects to sell more iPhones this quarter "than ever before." The previous record high was 2,315,000 sold during the holiday quarter of 2007. The company is also "very confident" in achieving the goal of selling 10 million iPhones in 2008.

Hmm.

The mini will grow and become expandable...Apple will dub it the Cube.

Ha.

Since they recently hired the former CTO of Segway, it will clearly be... the all-Apple iSegue! All-singing, all-dancing, all iTunes. You'll have an i old time!

...it'll just cause Apple to make less money.

Alternative to Nehalem/Core i7?

Intel is expected to announce the "Dunnington" processor later this month, the first six-core processor and last of its Penryn-class chips.

Intel on September 15 is expected to roll out the Intel Xeon 7400 series Dunnington processor targeted at the server market, the final member of the "Penryn" family of processors, according to sources at server vendors. Penryn will be followed by the Nehalem microarchitecture, due to appear initially as the Core i7 processor in the fourth quarter.

Alternately, Apple could wait for Nehalem-based chips. 2x6 is major overkill, but a possible marketing coup with concomitant bragging rights. Enough hereabouts will over the idea of next-gen 12-core CPUed MPs.

At least they'd be future-proof for # of cores.

Hard to sell a form of transportation that is illegal to use practically everywhere.

It's hard to sell a form of transportation that is four or five times as expensive and simultaneously less useful than a bicycle.

You should never buy stock ahead of an Apple announcement or Macworld.  The stock always immediately tanks because investors are pissed off that whatever Apple just announced doesn't come bundled with a free Second Coming of Christ.

Or if you have a time machine, you should buy some Apple stock about 5 years ago.  Apple's one of the biggest companies in the US now - there's only so much they can grow.
