The WHO estimated 2 million deaths from AIDS in 2007, with 2.7 million new cases.

I'm actually very glad you said this. You're talking about estimates, which have never been given any justification by the WHO. In fact, their last president said their estimation methods were capable of producing "total bulls---". The actual numbers they report are dramatically lower than their estimates. But, since this is supposed to be based on science, I always prefer to go with measurement over speculation. And, since AIDS cases, at least in the tropics, are over-reported, even that 200,000 figure should be treated circumspectly.

Meanwhile, UNAIDS echoes the same figures.

But I'm sure that there's only 200,000 new cases a year globally. roll
