You can ignore this
I just needed a small place to rant.
I just found out that I lost an internship.
An internship where I would have been able to relocate to a very warm climate.
An internship where I would be getting close to two times the pay.
An internship where I would be provided tuition repayment
An internship where I would be finally in a segment of Neuropsychology that i would love. Instead of slicing/viewing brains from drugged out rats.
An internship were I would be able to attach my name to research that I care about.
All gone... and i'm still stuck with the rats.

Careful, you'll offend Lew.
Seriously, sorry - better luck next time.

Re: You can ignore this
A number of years ago I lost out a comfy job at the NC Museum of History because a photographer (who was so incompetent he managed to get himself let go from another department) claimed the position under some rule that gave him first choice. There went my State job, State pension and the opportunity to live in Raleigh.
Sucks when that happens, particularly when the person who gets the job screws it up only to retire a few years later (they eliminated the position, then).
Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.

Re: You can ignore this
Well I most definitely hope something better will come along, hopefully sooner than later.
I lost the internship I believe for two maybe three reasons.
- I only have a Bachelors at present, and while I am working toward my Masters the extra work presented in this internship could be a substantial bit more and offset getting my Masters.
- My direct supervisor never sent in the recommendation.
and for the most unlikely reason that might have (but i don't really think it did have) something to do with it is that I wear both an engagement and wedding ring... the person I was interviewing with made some big deal about it and we spent over 15min explaining why.
I'm still a bit peeved about the whole thing. Mostly about my supervisor.
i mean no offense to Lew about the rats, i'm sure living rats are swell.

Umm... so they didn't like you because you're married? I'm confused by that one...

The thing to do is not to count your internships before they hatch....I had some experience with that earlier this year. It sucks, especially when you know who got it over you.....bastards.
Has it turned out well for me since? NO! I'm still looking for work.
Good luck though.
Alright, now, who wants to be transistorized?

Really the only problem that can come from that boils down to if my wife can't stay in the country (i married someone from a foreign country) it would make my life difficult very very fast. We are still waiting on the USCIS.
The person I interviewed with had a problem with that a male would have more than just a single ring on his fingers.

If you would have had to work under that idiot, then maybe you were lucky.

So did you explain that you were married to one woman and engaged to another and that anti-polygamy laws are really archaic?

Yup.
It use to be one person working could comfortable support a family.
Now days, it very often requires two people working.
In a decade, polygamy will be a financial necessity.
