Re: Predictions on Obama's VP pick?
It would have to be a hell of a mental incapacitation. I mean, we let Reagan through 2 whole terms.
QUESTION: What did Iraqi have to do with that?
BUSH: What did Iraq have to do with what?
QUESTION: The attacks upon the World Trade Center.
BUSH: Nothing

Re: Predictions on Obama's VP pick?
As I understand it, the majority of the executive branch, including the VP, have to basically decide that the president is unable to carry out his duties.
But what happens if the president disputes that? God knows.

McCain or Lieberman.
Kerry and Gore thought they were swell choices. With judgement like that, how can you lose?
It's not a movie.

Kerry wanted McCain as his VP, but was rebuffed.
I wonder if O'Bama can manage better judgement this time.
It's not a movie.

Obama and McCain should both have the other as their running mate, don't you think?

Learn your geography, queen. Biden is known locally as the 3rd senator of Pennsylvania -- he's VERY popular in the Philadelphia region which is instrumental for carrying this large swing state with 21 electoral votes, and where Obama's lead has been shrinking. And since southern New Jersey is a Philly suburb it will help him in NJ as well.
ps: the solid gold handed to Obama with McCain's flub up of the number of houses the McCain's own effectively stalls this VP announcement for at least until Saturday, I'd say.

Oh come on, shouldn't it be a given that he takes Pennsylvania? He's in trouble if he's not going to easy take the states Kerry won in 2004.

Kerry barely won here in '04, and only 12 counties out of 67. You don't comprehend the dynamics of the state.
Your original comment about it only locking Delaware was still ignorant, which was the point of my post. Just admit you are wrong and we can all move along.

Nor do I care to.
My point stands...Obama is in trouble if he doesn't hold the states Kerry won.

Right right, it was obviously intended to be a serious assessment of Biden's worth (ignoring the fact that the word "only" didn't appear anywhere in my post).
Obama is ahead 5% in Pennsylvania right now. Let's hope he can hold on!

Re: Predictions on Obama's VP pick?
saves us joe biden!
I'm still guessing Bayh will be chosen, as he could likely keep Indiana and Ohio in play.
(...and for the record, I would prefer to see Biden chosen over Bayh...if only because he's far more interesting.)

Well, in this election, seeing as how the candidate is "near", yes, voters care.

Let's see now.
Obama picks Biden and we get the plagiarism crap all over again.
The line against them will be "of course, they haven't had an original idea of their own for decades".
If Obama is going to be about change he'd best start doing it.

Yes way, way back when. Of course after that you have examples of Lincoln mixing his cabinet with people of opposing views instead of the general "yes men" that we see so often now.
As far as electing based off the VP, for me its a big consideration. With Obama I'd like to see a VP who isn't so pro-choice. (i base this off the fact that Obama voted 3 or so times to kill a bill that would allow a doctor to provide medical care to a baby who survived an abortion. that and I don't like how many times he voted "present" in IL. The man's salary was huge dollars and all he wanted to do was vote "present" grrr... ok enough rant.)
...and then there is McCain....
so yea, i'm very interested in the VP choices.

Apparently McCain has decided on Mitt Romney, according to TIME.

There was some historian on fresh air the other day (it was a repeat) who had gone through all of Johnson's White House recordings. He played various phone conversation, one between Johnson and Jackie Kennedy, shortly after the assassination. It was pretty interesting.
Also, we are off next week for Johnson's birthday.

Yeah, a bogus charge made 20 years ago is really going to stick. You gonna pull out the hair plugs too, bucko?
He credited the original writer of that line in his speech every time EXCEPT ONCE which just happened to get caught on video. Don't tell me you got sucked into that stupidity for 2 decades.

Were the conversations creepy and icky? LBJ was horrifyingly flirtatious with Jackie after the assassination.
