Microsoft fights back against "Get a Mac" with... Jerry Seinfeld?
So MS is finally fighting back.
The ads will star Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates himself. (Let's just see Steve Jobs replace "Mac" in the GAM ads.)
They will be created by Crispin Porter + Bogusky. If that name sounds familiar, they are responsible for some pretty good campaigns like BK's "Subservient Chicken" (Among others) and Volkswagen's infamous "V-Dub" ads with Coen Bros alumni Peter Stormare.

This should be interesting to see MS' reaction to Apple's all out campaign against their OS and Apple's inevitable followup referencing.
Should be very entertaining to say the least.
On a lighter note, Apple released four new ads recently.

Sienfeld (the character) was a big time Mac user.

MS should hire his cousin Geoffrey.
I understand he's much more successful.
It's not a movie.

You have to wonder if Microsoft will arrange to have the various Macs on the set of "Seinfeld" digitally replaced on the DVD sets.

That's Microsoft corporate mentality for you. "Gee, this John Hodgman and Justin Long thing is really making us look [air quotes]un-cool[/air quotes]. What are the kids these days watching? How about that Sein-feld thing... Someone get me this Sein-feld on the telephone."

Just for the sake of linking, there's another thread on this in Unplugged.

Well I've got my two cents in both threads however this gets combined, closed, or otherwise altered.

So they are going to copycat the ads? Wasn't the OS enough? Do they have to rub it into their own face?

Who knows. We won't find out exactly what the ads will be like until they air.

I thought it was a good ad, it was very seinfeld-y.
I don't see how it helps Vista out any though.
What is the difference between Vista and OSX?
- Microsoft employees are excited about OSX.

I saw it today during the Giants game. It's not great, but it's not terrible.

I saw it at the bar. My wife was like "What the smurf is going on on the TV?!?!" There was no sound. I don't feel like I missed anything.

For a second, I read that as: the bar fell silent over your wife's (particularly loud) comment... Then, I figured you must've been talking about the TV.

If I had stumbled upon that video through any other vector but this thread I would have just assumed it was a particularly lucid McCain campaign commercial.

Well, they've already gone from "Vista is the greatest thing ever!" to "Vista's not really as bad as everybody says." The next logical step is "Hey! It can only get better from here!"
I'm not sure that ad really said anything, tho. Wait...strike that. I'm sure it said nothing.
