Editing MOD video files
I received footage to edit that was taken by a hard drive camcorder, which produced MOD video files. I can't edit these files in FCE and even tried to change it to MPG files, but it still didn't recognize the file. Does anyone know how I can go about editing the MOD files?

Re: Editing MOD video files
quick search in a search engine found this bit of info
I haven't really had that much time to play with the camera yet, so I don't feel right reviewing it yet. However, I have had extensive experience trying to get the movie files to play in QuickTime on my Mac.
First off, this camera is compatible with Mac os x!!!! However, JVC saves the files as MOD. For the easiest way to convert it and be able to view AND hear it in Quick Time, do this.
Go to http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html and download MPEG StreamClip (either 1.8 or the beta will do). Then open the .MOD file in the program, click File, and select "Export as Quicktime" and it'll do the rest!
I'm writing this because I just spent 2 hours trying to find a way to convert the files WITH sound. This WILL WORK!!!
2.2Ghz BlackMB---15" 2.4Ghz MBP(work)---Dual 2.3Ghz G5 (4G Ram, 2x 250G HD)---1.5GHz Powerbook---1.6Ghz G5 iMac ---500Mhz iMac DV
2.4GHz PC --- 1.2Ghz PC laptop
