You've said it before, and I still hope (but doubt) that you're joking. The police do not set speed limits!

Maybe in some areas, like in Hazzard County.

Re: Aggressive, reckless drivers
I deal with a combination of people who weave through traffic -some of whom actually prefer to pass on the right for some stupid reason- and dimwits who cruise along (at or below the speed limit) in the left lane, completely oblivious as to why people are honking at them.
I had a couple of recent trips to Maine in the last month where I had the displeasure many encounters with Massacheusetts drivers -the worst of which are among the elite in smurf drivers. If ever there were an smurf Driver Hall of Fame, they would put it in Massachuesetts to be sure.
I grew up in an area with a high percentage of smurf drivers (Long Island, NY), but the Massholes can put them to shame in terms of attitude and uncanny ability to invent new stupidity whenever the mood strikes.

Maybe because some idiots are only doing 10 over in the fast lane, slowing down the traffic.

No, I said they "prefer" to pass on the right, because they will pass on the right even if the left lane is open.
I'd be in the middle lane, probably 5-10 over speed limit the person passing will choose to pass on the right -sometimes igoring the fact that someone is trying to enter the highway from there too.
Usually this type of person first flies right up to my rear bumper, and changes lanes at the very last second. Just plain idiot behavior.

Re: Aggressive, reckless drivers
I usually drive 5-10 over and I still see those smurfs who jump out at the last second, to the right, fly up and pass you- only to jam on the brakes. I stroll by, never slowing down, never speeding up. This process can repeat itself quite a few times in a mile. I guess they have plenty of money.
I drive with my gas pedal, not my brakes. The gas pedal and brakes are not on/off buttons. That's why it moves up and down at varying degrees. If you're not going too fast you can let off of the gas instead of jamming on the brakes every thirteen seconds. Saves gas and less trips to the shop.

Woosies! just disconnect the brake lights. Much more fun!

There was a dolt in a huge (Dodge Ram 2500) truck doing 20 in a 40 yesterday. Honking, screaming out the window, flashing my lights, and holding the horn for upwards of 30 seconds had no effect. Fortunately the street I was turning off onto came up soon, because I was seconds away from dropping the car back into first and ramming him on purpose.
You don't smurfing drive twenty smurfing miles per hour in a goddamn 40 zone, especially not in front of me, when I'm already in a goddamn smurfy mood to begin with. If you're looking for something and can't smurfing find it, smurfing pull the smurf over and let traffic past, you goddamn douchebag.
God, just thinking about that guy is making me furious all over again.

Damn right someone driving 20 in a 40 in front of me for no freaking reason (he was the head of the line) will give me road rage. Some of us have places to be, and don't need to be stuck behind some schmuck going half the speed limit.

I'm getting pretty annoyed with slow drivers, too. I understand going slower to conserve gas, but stay in the right smurfing lane. Doing 5-20 mph below the speed limit in the middle and left lanes is just friggin unacceptable.

Maybe you should allow more time in your transit plans so you don't give yourself an aneurysm if someone breaks down or has a collision in front of you or if there's unexpected road work.

And that is supposed to negate a little courtesy? They don't exist solely for anyone's benefit. Daniel is supposed to respect the driver if he/she wants to drive slow, but the slow driver doesn't have to respect Daniel if he wants to drive fast (and by fast, I mean even the speed limit)? Daniel said the driver was the head of a line, presumably of other cars.

It may interest you to learn that many roads are available to slower vehicles including but not limited to bicycles, Vespas, and tractors.

It is the speed limit, not the minimum. This is not to say that driving much slower can't also be hazardous.

Re: Aggressive, reckless drivers
It sure can be, but the law does allow low speed vehicles on most roads.
I'm also quite sure that far more collisions have been caused by unsafe high speeds than unsafe low speeds.

Re: Aggressive, reckless drivers
as long as they are driving at least the MINIMUM speed limit... they really don't have to do 70mph in a 70mph zone.
and if they are driving within the speed limits. just cause you wanna drive OVER the speed limit, is not cause to say they are slower and should be in the right lane ( a law in many states -- slower traffic keep to right lane )
if you are inna hurry. leave 5 minutes earlier.
or just get the Tank and be done with it.
