Re: All about Governor Palin's problems
Basically what the McCain campaign is saying is that Hillary can stand the heat and shouldn't cry foul if the media examines her closely.
But with Palin they should give her a by simply because she is a woman?
Isn't that a very cynical double standard?

It can't possibly that she has a (scant) political record with some questions, can it? Naaah, the media is only attacking her because she is a woman.

But I do agree with radarman: the fact that Wasilla (the town where she was mayor) is the meth capital of Alaska isn't much of an issue for or against Palin.
On radarman's second point: those supporting Obama are making it a point that any accusation from the right should not stand by itself for more than 24 hours (and preferably less) without a detailed rebuttal of some sort.

Different circumstances as well, as Palin has just been "introduced" as part of a national presidential ticket.

I'll say one thing it indicates to me- that the unemployed and disenfranchised are getting looked over and left out in general. Its true that tons of small towns have meth problems, and thats the reason why. I love the way politicians are all about "CHANGE" so long as real problems the middle american vote they are going after have to deal with never get dealt with.

You mean Kerry selected him as the Democratic VP nominee in 2004? I must have missed that.

Tell the truth: aside from those who are residents of Alaska, who here has heard of Sarah Palin before this past week or so? At the publication time of that Newsweek article (October 2007) up until recently Palin was still a cypher for almost everyone (including McCain from all appearances).

Re: All about Governor Palin's problems
Honestly, I have to admit that I had heard of her. On McCain's wikipedia page for his capaign her name was on there so I googled it and there were a small bunch of blogs that wanted to see her on the ticket. I didnt really think she was a serious contender, but I wondered if maybe she was going to be a surprise.

Only the gullible actually bought that "change" crap. Everyone else is just deciding which is the lesser evil. Right now, Obama appears to be less evil than McCain - or at least less like George Bush.

Oh, totally. One party wants to rape you wearing a creepy stocking pulled over their head and the other party wants to rape you too but they have the decency to wear a nice superman mask while doing it. Those are the kind of differences that really matter in deciding between evils. Bend over American voter, we've got some lesser evil for you to take!

The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post “Thou Shalt Not Steal,” “Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,” and “Thou Shall Not Lie” in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians. Agreed. But much of the concern is due to McCain being the oldest candidate to be potentially sworn in, and having had 2-4 occurrences of skin cancer (reports vary).

In my lifetime:
2004: John Edwards - Senator, former presidential candidate
Dick Cheney - Vice President
2000: Joe Lieberman - Senator
Dick Cheney - Congressman, White House COS, SecDef, Sith Lord
1996: Al Gore - Vice President
Jack Kemp - Pro Football player, Congressman, HUD Secretary
1992: Al Gore - Congressman, Senator, failed presidential candidate
Dan Quayle - Vice President
1988: Lloyd Bentsen - Congressman, Senator, Treasury Secretary
Dan Quayle - Congressman, Senator
1984: Geraldine Ferraro - Congressman
George Bush - Vice President
1980: Walter Mondale - Vice President
George Bush - Congressman, UN Ambassador, CIA Chief
The only one that come close to Palin's obscurity would be Geraldine Ferraro and we all saw how well that worked out.
QUESTION: What did Iraqi have to do with that?

QUESTION: The attacks upon the World Trade Center.

That's not true.
She was nationally known before this.
People who watched the Late Late Show knows her as the woman who granted Craig Ferguson honorary citizenship of Alaska.
That must count for something, right?
