Connecting to Mac corrupts files on NTFS drive

I recently made a big mistake by connecting a PC formatted USB2 external drive to my Mac.

Now, all files (word docs, RAW and DNG image files) are not readable by their applications, such as Word of Photoshop CS3.

Anyone have any tips as to how to repair such corrupted files?

Thanks,
Joe
