Re: Registered Voters

Registered voter in a not-so-friendly-for-people-voting-democrat area.  I've already taken the day off (and those surrounding it) to make sure that I can be there.

I'm considering going for an early vote this year. I think there's an early voting polling place in a public library on my way home from work.

Re: Registered Voters

I can't imagine that very many people who bother to participate in discussions here aren't going to vote in the upcoming election (excepting the Canadians).

I'll probably vote early, though my vote for president won't really "count" (as I live in Texas).

Well, actually we have our own Federal Election in eight days so we will be voting, just not in the same election as you. tongue

Oh, and I already voted. Early voting rocks.

Re: Registered Voters

Just moved a month back. Thought I had taken care of the process in the first week. Lo and behold, I didn't affirm that if I had been convicted of a felony, I had had my full citizenship rights restored. I left that blank, not being a felon. The app was sent back w/yellow hilite last Friday. Soo...still not 'registrared'. Yet.

You can still cancel shnicky's vote

Re: Registered Voters

20 and voting.

BTW, I heard a rumor around campus (In minnesota) that you can vote in the state where you go to college. Is that true? My permanent address is in North Dakota, but I'd rather vote in Minnesota for a few reasons.

1. Lived there my whole life until my parents moved just recently
2. I can vote in the state where I work and go to school, thus affecting me more.
3. North Dakota isn't a real swing state smile

Only republicans can vote in the state they go to college in. Don't worry about that pesky absentee ballot.
Just wait till election day and go to the polls!

Do you meet residency requirements for Minnesota ?  I think most states don't allow students to become residents, for in-state vs out-of-state tuition reasons.

Maybe. Maybe not. I didn't mention that this county bucked the national trend and has touch-screen electronic machines for this election. [They're being introduced here now, rather than the primaries?!!](TV story over the weekend 'educating' the voters.) Not sure if they're the Deibolds of dread or not. TV seemed to show a paper 'rolling receipt'. But, could be hacked code for all I know. However, I saw a map on either Pollster of Politico which showed the whole area is pretty blue (for the state that gave us Jesse Helms-->>Liddy Dole Senate.) Worst case would shave some Obama margin; couldn't just give the county totals away to Mc****. I don't think.

Re: Registered Voters

I wasn't old enough to vote back in 2004; I missed it by about a week. I was apathetic until these past few months. I'd like to vote in this election, but a few months ago I became temporarily handicapped by falling with (not off) my bicycle and landing on my right leg, breaking both sides of my right ankle as well as my heel. I'm sure there must be a way for me to vote despite the handicap (there has to be), but it's still an obstacle.

Re: Registered Voters

They rejected Diebolds in my county because of the vote-dumping scandal in NC involving Diebold machines in the 2004 election (the buffer filled up and dumped hundreds of votes - I think they had to hold a local ballot again).

Normally, I'd agree with bratboy about my vote being a throw-away, but I have a small glimmer of hope for NC.

Thanks...I found that, which says if you have a student ID from a minnesota state college and a current bill, you can vote in Minnesota. I sent them an email, explaining my situation, so hopefully someone there will know the exact answer.

I don't watch TV, precisely because of the overwhelming amount of ads. So, no, I haven't.
