Is there a way to skip Backup on iPhone?
I don't sync my iphone very often, mostly I only do it when I have added contacts or calendars on either my mac or phone. Seems that I'm syncing about once per week. The backup takes forever! Everything that is on my phone is on my mac, and I don't see what this backup is doing. Is there a way to skip the backup? Any help in shortening my iphones time syncing would be appreciated.
Thanks

There's a "defaults write" command you can use.
defaults write com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool true
It's also available from the Secrets pref pane http://secrets.blacktree.com/?search=iphone

Hmm, couldn't make that one work.

Thanks, that works.

Doesn't matter if the sync happens automatically or not, still backs up.
Thanks SamGuy, I'll be fine just canceling the backup whenever I don't have time for it.

Have you upgraded the iPhone's firmware to version 2.1? Backups are much faster after that update.

Yeah I did, I saw that on the update notes, but it's still really slow only doing it once a week or so. The more I backup the faster it goes it seems, maybe I'll just do it more often.
