Um what?

California General Election
Prop 8: Summary
Changes California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. Provides that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

Yes
A yes vote on this measure means: The California Consitution will specify that only a marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

No
A no vote on this measure means: Marriage between individuals of the same sex would continue to be valid or recognized in California.

This vote is in California, this prop may or may not be on the ballot in your state.

I live in California. I know what prop 8 is. The "what?" was to your attempted sentence:

I like how Tina Fey as Sarah Palin put it (paraphrased):  marriage is a sacred institution, a special bond between two unwilling teenagers.

Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.  Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."  They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

Re: ACORN! AYERS! N*****S!

"Quack!" - Cedric Maxwell:

Officials: FBI investigates ACORN for voter fraud
By LARA JAKES JORDAN – 1 hour ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI is investigating whether the community activist group ACORN helped foster voter registration fraud around the nation before the presidential election.
A senior law enforcement official confirmed the investigation to The Associated Press. A second senior law enforcement official says the FBI was looking at results of inquiries in several states, including a raid on ACORN's office in Las Vegas, for any evidence of a coordinated national effort.
Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because Justice Department regulations forbid discussing ongoing investigations particularly so close to an election.
Two spokesmen for ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, on Thursday said the FBI has not contacted the group.
"ACORN has not been notified that we are the target of an investigation by any authorities — nor should we be," spokesman Kevin Whelan said in a statement. "ACORN members have done a good and patriotic thing by helping bring more than a million of their fellow citizens into our democratic process."
Republican accusations about the group were raised during Wednesday's presidential debate between Democrat Barack Obama and Republican candidate John McCain

Maybe it's the word?  'Phobic' implies an irrational fear.  You're not irrationally afraid of gays, you just don't want them to have equal rights under the law.

Is that more accurate?

The root "phob" literally translates as fear, but the word "homophobic" does not actually mean fear of gays. The dictionary definition has no requirement for "fear" to be part of being homophobic.

Simple prejudice is all that's needed for homophobia, and not feeling gays should be married is definitely homophobic.

So while you may not "fear" gays, you're definitely homophobic.

Re: ACORN! AYERS! N*****S!

...

During Wednesday night's debate, McCain accused ACORN of "maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy.”

McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis issued a statement this afternoon: "Given the fact the FBI has launched a nationwide investigation into the questionable voter registration practices of ACORN, it is imperative that Barack Obama's campaign cooperate fully with this important investigation. To date, in public announcements including last night's debate, Barack Obama has attempted to conceal and distort his and his campaign's relationship with a group that is currently engaging in systematic voter fraud. Barack Obama's campaign must fully disclose the true nature of his association with ACORN. In the spirit of a fair election Barack Obama should assist in this process prior to Election Day."[b]

But liberal groups are coming to ACORN's side.

People for the American Way said this afternoon it will buy a full-page ad in The New York Times "charging the right wing with misleading the public in the ACORN voter registration controversy" and criticizing a media frenzy that has reached a "fever pitch."

“What’s [b]really threatening to destroy the fabric of our democracy are right-wing efforts to suppress millions of newly registered voters,
both Democrats and Republicans around the country,” Kathryn Kolbert, the group's president, said in a statement. “ACORN should be commended for registering 1.3 million Democrats and Republicans to vote in this historic upcoming presidential election."

So, when there's hell at the polling place, it's That One and his cheating associates to blame. Don't trust the voting process. The election's being stolen.
