Oh the irony is unbelievable.

Read that statement.
Seriously.
Read it.

Irony? What Irony? I proofread most of my posts on this board.

Your post was doing precisely what you were accusing those who use the phrase "gay lifestyle" of doing.
Are you are so blind to it you do not even see it?

I'm not going to entertain the idea that homosexuality is a disease--

You did just that in post #84.
You compared homosexuality to a disability, a disease often caused by a genetic flaw.

I've never done such a thing.

Well, if you were to argue that homosexuality has a genetic component, you would be undercutting the "homosexuality is a lifestyle of choice" argument.

As for my position? Homosexuality probably does have a genetic component--though not a deleterious one, it's not so easily shrugged off, and denying a gay couple the right to marry serves no useful purpose.

If I were to argue that homosexuality has a genetic component to it I would be arguing well beyond what any science has even remotely been able to demonstrate.

I think there may be a genetic component to it, I don't know.

I do know this - my Father has diabetes. While it does have a genetic component to it, in his case - poor diet choices his entire life resulted in a consequence. He did not choose to be diabetic, but choices he made contributed to it.

This is actually quite similar to what Paul describes in Romans 1:

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity

Being given over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity is described as a consequence. They didn't choose to be sexually immoral, they made other sinful choices and were given over to sexual immorality.

Dad didn't choose to be diabetic, but he led a lifestyle that contributed to it and resulted in it.

Oh for crying out loud! Are you willing to stake your entire existence, your raison d'etre, your essence, your personality on the use of that one phrase? Is it so important to you?

Fine. Have at it. Use "gay lifestyle" all you want, and the rest of us will assume that it is empty, void of meaning-- a signifier without a signified.

Re: Is this a homosexual lifestyle?

Back to my post that started this:

Even though I disagree with the lifestyle - those of homosexual orientation, whether they chose it or were born that way or whatever aren't going to change their lifestyle just because they can't get married, so why bother denying them? There's bigger fish to fry.

Please note that in that post, preserved in the locked thread, I specifically stated that it doesn't matter if they chose it or were born that way or whatever.

So when you then attack me for using the word "lifestyle" and specifically state:

When people talk up the gay lifestyle, they are either trying to sell something, trying to imply a choice that doesn't exist, or trying to fit gays into little cubbyholes.

You were trying to fit me into a cubby hole, as I had nothing to sell and clearly from my post that I was NOT trying to imply a choice that doesn't exist as I specifically stated that it doesn't matter if it is a choice or not.

You may proofread each and every one of your posts, but it seems you don't bother to verify that your judgmental interpretations of what others have written even match what they wrote.

Stay out of other people's bedrooms. Unless you're invited.

Didn't we just go over that?

Do not tell me what opinions I am and am not allowed to express and have discussions on.
And please read my response to you in post #75 - as you have yet to give any acknowledgment, but rather, seem to have just waited for it to slip under the radar.

It applies here as well.
It's on Page 3 of this thread if you display same # of posts per page as I do.
