Palin's $150,000 wardrobe is nothing...
compared to the way Obama tosses money around.
Republican strategist Brad Blakeman, responding to a question about how John McCain could square his opposition to wasteful spending with the RNC shelling out over $150,000 on clothes and accessories for Sarah Palin, said that the real outrage is Barack Obama "taking a 767 campaign plane to go visit Grandma." This is the same grandmother who raised Obama and who is very seriously ill. Blakeman continued, "Forget about the energy that is wasted, what about the hundreds of thousands of dollars to take a private trip when this guy should be humping his bags on a commercial plane or taking a smaller plane. Taking a 767 of campaign money from people who could least afford it is more of an outrage in my opinion." Anchor David Schuster, laughing, replied, "That is one of the most valiant tries I have ever seen in this entire debate about Sarah Palin's clothing allowance.

I still believe in liberalism today as much as I ever did, but, oh, there was a happy time when I believed in liberals.

Re: Palin's $150,000 wardrobe is nothing...
A normally rational colleague hit me with that failed equivalency. Yeah, compare (possibly) excessive transportation costs with excessive lipstick costs.
Apparently its just another sign that the media isn't fair to Palin.
And to have it both ways, this colleague insists they realize Palin isn't a good choice, but "the media" still isn't being fair to her.
Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

Reliable sources tell me he really flew back because his birth certificate scam has been found out by intrepid investigators, and he has to get another one. Presumabley a better one, less suceptible to intrepid investigators.

That's odd, because I heard Hawaii is just a stopover; his real destination is Indonesia, where he plans to revisit the madrassa of his youth for the latest orders from Islamic Central.

Jesus Shick, yes.
First we hear Grannie is gravely ill and he's cutting out of the campaign to go see her.
He campaigns here and there anyway, does a dance on Ellen and finally flies out to see her.
Oh, he also says she might not make it till the election.

No we don't.
I'm not saying she isn't gravely ill, she could be taking her last breath as I type this for all I know. It seems she fell and broke a hip with some other issues in the mix. At 85 it's no wonder she's got other issues.
I do know I personally find it a bit odd as I too have had my share of death beds and gravely ill loved ones.

Obama simply cannot take public transportation, some nutjob would take a swing or a shot at him. So what's he supposed to do?

He should have suspended his campaign !

He did suspend his campaign (as far as his his own involvement is concerned), he's just not canceling it or dropping out. He still could not have taken pubic transportation. As a candidate he has security concerns you or I couldn't relate to and in dealing with them it would disrupt said public transportation. So you ask why not take a smaller plane? Well does he has one, particularly one capable of making it to Hawaii? If not, it's not gonna be any cheaper to buy or charter one rather than it is to use the plane he already has available. Beside this a a 767 not a 747; it's a much smaller plane at nearly half the weight while possessing configurations capable of transpacific flight.

Everything he does or says smacks of "being played" to me. Democrats generally seem so scared of offending anyone their campaigns always seem so rehearsed.

Wow, it's clear McCain supporters are having a meltdown. This and this
are symptoms of the same type of insanity. I almost don't feel it's worth worrying about anymore.
I just hope these delusions don't translate in to anything more violent. For one, Biden would make a bad president, but also what it would say about America and in turn humanity in general.

SPeaking of 'conservatives'..
Today on CSPAN/WJ the topic is who's a choice for a cabinet postition for your candidate? So, one caller wants to know why all the calls are about Obama's cabinet, like he's already elected. Host asked if she had suggestions for McCandidate's cabinet, she said, "No, I want to talk about ANOTHER issue...The Conservative Party wants to know what's behind the media's treatement of Gov. Palin?"
The Conservative Party. And a few days ago I heard something like.."We want Obama questioned about his ties to Bill Ayers. And if he is not questioned the Conservative BASE will take action."
Making the word 'questioned' sound like uhhh...waterboarding. Or worse.
There is a sort of bifurcation going on, I think.

I think the whole wardrobe thing has it's roots in how the Republican elite really are so genuinely out of touch with real Americans they never even blinked at the idea of lavishing that much cash on Palin's clothes.
A more in touch bunch might have considered having Palin do some shopping at Wal-Mart or JCPenny's or some such to highlight her proletariat roots.
See? I shop at places just like you! Another oportunity squandered....what a train wreck of a campaign..

It's not republicans.
It's politicians in general.
You will find that kind of spending on both sides of the aisle, and it is nothing new, been going on for a very long time.

Palin's shopping sprees seem to fit in with her character (or lack thereof). Just another little sneak peek of what we're in for after they take another election.
