AirTunes ??
Here's my dumb question, do I have to be connected to the internet too?
my problem is, I have my AX out in the porch with the modem connected via ethernet. To get AirTunes to work, I'd disconnect the ethernet, and place it by my stereo receiver. And hopefully it works.
I've not gotten it to connect yet, but I'm having a house party tomorrow nite and want to impress my friends. I'll be connecting it to my Sony surround sound system, in the house, far away from my modem....

Re: AirTunes ??
the AX can stay plugged into the modem while it's connected to the stereo. those are separate connections.
but if that doesn't work space-wise, you should be able to just have the AX connected to the stereo (and a power source, of course). the AX can talk to the AirPort card that's installed in your Mac—IF the Mac and AX are close enough that they can find each other.
If your Mac is connected to a wireless network inside the house, you can use AirPort Utility to set up the AX as an extension of that same network, and then it should work great.
i hope that helps. give it a try and holler at us if you run into any specific problems. but the AirPort Utility does a great job of walking you through it, from my experience.
