The law is clear.

It amazes me that you still can't see this.

Precisely which law is clear?

The Geneva Convention clearly spells out how prisoners should be handled, either as POWs or criminal suspects via civil court, nothing else.

There are various aspects of US law that address these piecemeal, but more importantly, the Geneva Convention has been entered into the American legal code. Which means violating it means violating the law.
