Re: Snow
Got about 12" here between Monday and Tuesday. Lots of snow to play in with the snowmobiles!
Nefarious, sucks about your snoblower. If you replace the belt, remember to readjust it after 15-20 min of use the first time. Thereafter, do it when you notice a decrease in blowing performance. Letting a belt slip is the worst thing for them. Several people have gotten over 20 years of use off the belts in their snow blowers at work because they kept them adjusted. Others can't get their driveway done before burning it off.
Am I the only one who loves snow but hates it when it snows? Too many damn blowers coming into work that should have been fixed before the season was here.
And then its my fault that I can't get them all done "right now".

more fun -- wind chill warning for Wisconsin tomorrow --- as bad as -25 to -15 F.
my personal record tho is -70 F wind chill. And I mean walking in it. Although, I don't think I want to go wearing so many clothes again.

Re: Snow
Just checked the weather online. It appears that the Weather Channel can't read a thermometer. They claim that the low today was 3 degrees. The low was -7 degrees. Right now its -2 and they claim its 9. Gah!

Re: Snow
Beginning near midnight Thursday night until Friday noon or so, we expect 6-12 inches of snow and countless emergency dental visits due to wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Re: Snow
When I left the house this morning, it was raining outside (2800 ft). I started driving and started up the hill toward the pass (3700 ft), started to see a little snow. Dropped back down(3200ft) and back to rain. Onto I-40E and started to see the snow again, as I went up the snow got a little heavier. Got to work(4000ft), still light snow.
The heavy snow started about 11 AM, by the time I got off work at 3 PM there was about 3 inches on the car, by the time I got home, it was just rain again.

Re: Snow
I'm starting to wonder: do we gig because it's snowing, or does it snow because we're gigging?
Dec 5 we gigged, it snowed.
Dec 7 we gigged, it snowed.
Dec 8 we gigged, it snowed A LOT!
Dec 12 we gigged, it didn't snow.
Dec 13 we gigged, it snowed.
Dec 14 we gigged, it snowed A smurfing LOT!
Dec 15 we gigged, it snowed.
Dec 16 we gigged, it snowed.
Last night, no gig, no snow.
Tomorrow night, no gig, it's not supposed to snow.
Saturday and Sunday we gig and it's supposed to snow again.
WTF?
Grandfatherly advice: You can drink 'em pretty, but you can't drink 'em smart.

Re: Snow
Until Wednesday, the forecast was calm and around 40°F, no snow. Inside the house anyway.
Later Weds the new furnace was installed and the house began warming for the first time all Fall. Icicles and the dreaded Indoor Blue Norther were averted.

Snow yesterday, large storm in progress. May not get car out of driveway. Drivers advised to stay home if possible. 2"-4" more expected by noon.

Wind chill is a brisk -25 F now. I cleaned up a lot of snow last night when there was no wind and temperature was a balmy 20 F.

I'm in Maine - we're getting hammered today. Luckily my gig tonight was canceled, but I still had to go drive around and find somewhere to park my car. It's bad.

Re: Snow
It just snowed for almost 2.5 days. We were supposed to get 2 storms with rest on Saturday but there was a blob of snow that just sat on Boston all day long. smurfing awesome. There was a bit of rain in there so now it's about 15" with a bit of crunch to it.
