You can get an idea on how long they'll last based on the listed capacity (mAH).

The pro of using rechargeable is the money saved over time by not needing to replace the batteries when they loose charge.

I'm not sure I understand.  I think you mean:

- Rechargable Batteries don't hold a charge for very long, but you can use them over and over again so you save money despite having to change the depleted battries more often.

- Standard batteries last longer, but when they're done, they're done, so you have to spend money on new ones.  Over time you spend more, but have more hours playing in a row.

Is that what you mean?  If I understand you correctly, that exactly matches my experience... but you've left out the answer for what the original poster is asking.

I don't have any experience with them either, but wouldn't mind hearing about how they hold up in comparison.  That second one in particular claims a great play-to-recharge time:

Doesn't say what the battery pack's expected lifespan is, though.

Rechargable AA's can be used in anything as opposed to a charge pack for a controller, so I'd go with those.

In my experience, rechargeable AAs don't work very well in the Wii controllers. A fully charged pair reports as 1 bar out of 4 and lasts less than an hour. The same batteries work fine in other devices. I haven't tried the Wii-specific battery packs.

Not all rechargeable batteries are created equal.

The ones I tried were all NiMH with ratings between 1800 and 2300 mAh from Duracell, Energizer, and two off-brands.

Rechargeable batteries annoy me (though I keep using them).  I don't have time to play games often, so they'll usually sit there and seem to drain quickly without use.  But, you can't keep them charging until you're ready to use them, either.
