Old Scrapbook files opening?
Is there a program that allow the opening and importing of old Classic Scrapbook files into an OS X format?

Based on the findings of the report, my conclusion was that this idea was not a practical deterrent for reasons which at this moment must be all too obvious.

Not entirely sure about the graphics clips, but I man-handled an audio clip once to get it onto a Tiger machine. It wasn't pretty, but I was pleased it was even possible.

If I remember right scrap book stored images as pict in resources. I am pretty sure GraphicConverter can extract those.
Lacking the classic environment I cannot test my theory.

Thanks for the tip! I used GraphicConverter X (native to OS X) to open an old scrapbook file. It worked well on importing some of the scrapbook items – the picture files, but some text and other files didn't import well.

If you had the classic environment loaded you could also extract the rest of the picts with resedit. I am pretty sure you can anyways. You could also look at site like Macupdate.com to see if there are any OSX compatible resource editors.

The cp command in OS X can be used to extract the resource fork. It has been a while since I used it but I believe the syntax would be cp filename/rsrc newfilename. I'm sure man cp will provide the gory details.

The whole point is that if I'm running on Intel Mac, which has no classic environment. How do you extract the contents of old scrapbook files easily without the Classic OS. There should program to do this, somewhere, I just don't know what it is. Graphic Converter X seems to do an OK job on some things (pict files) but not everything (text files and some some other pict files).

Yeah, but I was trying to see (just for the hell of it) if there was a reliable way to open old scrapbook files on an Intel before resorting to a Classic Mac.
