Re: Official MWSF '09 Topic

I find this entire keynote very underwhelming.

Re: Official MWSF '09 Topic

they really should have had a dog run across the stage and pull at a curtain. behind which would be steve, controlling the whole show like the wizard of oz. everyone would have had a laugh and we would say "there is just one more thing" and announce something great.

Re: Official MWSF '09 Topic

What they mean by "1000 recharges" must be industry speak.  He mentioned that the 1000 recharges is three times what normal batteries get.  And I doubt it means 1000 charges then it's dead.  Probably 1000 full charges with no loss of the length of battery life.

Gotta say, if that's it, it is an underwhelming keynote.  Stockholders, prepare yourselves for the descent.

Steve's on vacation, people. Didn't you read his letter? The only reason Phil did this last one is because he took a vacation with his family for the first time in forever. Let the guy live a semi-normal life.

But yeah, Toto revealing the Wizard to be a man behind a curtain would have been funny.

Re: Official MWSF '09 Topic

I'm not really sure I want a non-removable battery, but could live with it in my 13" MacBook if it bumped the life very high. I seem to replace my machine every 2-3 years so it's a non-issue for me.

All I really wanted was Snow Leopard demoed and dated. That's all I wanted. So... when is the date coming? Apple? Come on!

I'm happy with iWork, I don't need Office anymore (that slow piece of junk, the MBU should be ashamed they released such a buggy mess).

Re: Official MWSF '09 Topic

I never use iMovie, but I am planning a trip this summer and am really looking forward to using the new map stuff for effects.

Also, I've wanted to learn an instrument for a while. Now is my chance.

Re: Official MWSF '09 Topic

I understand that operating systems take an enormous amount of time and work, so I'm not surprised we didn't see Snow Leopard yet - but I'm absolutely baffled as to what Apple's plans for the Mac Mini are.

I really wished they'd they'd add some basic functionalities to Garageband, but I do think it's pretty cool for beginning students to be able to learn from Sting and Ben Folds.

Re: Official MWSF '09 Topic

Aside from the iphone last year, I was much less impressed with the 2008 keynote than this one.   iMovie, Garageband are greatly improved.   Consumers get price breaks in iTunes Music and with the Mac Box Set.

The MBP battery portends big things in iPods, iPhones, MacBooks and the rumored Netbook.

I suspect the rumors are correct with regard to the Nvidia chipset, twin display ports, overdue Superdrive upgrade plus the Processor, RAM  & Drive bump. Timing is Apple's big secret there. Beyond that I'm not sure.

The 17 looks ok aside from using the troubled nVidia chipsets still.  Probably wait for rev.2.

I'm watching the iPhoto guided tour now. Some of these new features seem god damn brilliant.
