Re: Can we please merge some forums?
I would like to remind that while discussions between moderators are active, nothing is close to final yet. I have listed recommendations as a gauge to see how well they would address the forum's needs (particularly in context to the forums limitations).

...Not even In Tech News and Everyday Tech are that busy. There are threads on the first page in ITN that haven't had a reply in over 3 weeks.
And aren't really meant or expected to. A fair number of those are news, and don't necessarily need replies. This is a bullitin board, and 'News' is part of the forum title.
Perhaps it's poorly named or needs a better subtitle, but Everyday Tech is tech help. ITN is not.
All I was doing is giving a suggestion that I think would help assuage the impression that this board is slowly dying.
It is, really. Slowly. Apple's changed over the years, becoming more mainstream; its user base reflects that, becoming more softcore over time. The mag changed style, then title to reflect that shift from hardcore techie to lifestyle-oriented. Subscribers are less likely to be/become hardcore forumgoers; the forums still cater more to the old MacAddict crowd. Splinter forums have also bled membership... all in all, it's a state of affairs to be expected. But we'll be here as long as the mag exists. Folks will still need help with hardware and software, and hang as a tribe.
Come for the tech help & news, stay for the discussions and other fun.

The current divisions are actually silly in some respects. For example:
In Tech News
Everyday Tech
On-The-Go

The first is general computer tech news (not tech help). The second is general tech help (not news). Two and three aren't so separated (only the mobility aspect); IMHO they might be combined for simplicity's sake.

At this point I'd prefer that but it's no skin off my teeth either way.
