Security Breach of Marine One Plans
Story. How are these plans even on a computer attached to the internet?

Re: Security Breach of Marine One Plans
When it comes to national security, one of the keys to keeping the American President safe is the fleet of executive aircraft -- from presidential helicopters, to the ultra-high-tech jet fortress, Air Force One. Thus it came as quite a shock to the security community when security firm Tiversa discovered blueprints of the Barack Obama's presidential helicopter, Marine One, being hosted by an Iranian IP address.
The leaked plans included details on the helicopter's communications and engineering. Describes Bob Boback, CEO of Tiversa, "We found a file containing entire blueprints and avionics package for Marine One,which is the president's helicopter. What appears to be a defense contractor in Bethesda, MD had a file sharing program on one of their systems that also contained highly sensitive blueprints for Marine One."
Mr. Boback believes the leak may be innocent in nature. He points out that many file sharing programs automatically share the contents of your entire hard drive. The employee may merely have downloaded a P2P client to download music and videos and ended up unwittingly leaking the highly confidential information on Marine One. Says Mr. Boback, "When downloading one of these file-sharing programs, you are effectively allowing others around the world to access your hard drive."
Sounds familiar. Investigations are ongoing.

Its more like incompetence than malfeasance. Which doesn't lessen the need to throw the dumbasses in jail.

No he deserves prison. As they should charge him with espionage which is a form of treason. After all, he did aid other hostile countries to obtain classified military information.
And someone needs to be held accountable for that!

He loaded P2P software on a server that held sensitive data just so he could download music? How did an idiot like that gain access to the damn server in the first place?
Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.
Unless you become as little children, there's no way you will believe this crap.

The company needs to be hauled out and beaten, too. Obviously their policy on handling classified information is lax.

Re: Security Breach of Marine One Plans
As someone who works with electronic publications and plans for military aircraft (including the CH53 that is the basis for Marine One) I know for a fact that this is primarily the company's fault. No information should be stored locally to that hard drive ESPECIALLY any actual publications for the aircraft. All publications must either be paper or must be collected online via Card ID + PIN through a specific website, or lastly through a PED (a computer that is never connected to any network within the shop).
The individual should only be punished for downloading and installing software illegally on a government computer.
That company should have hell to pay for jeopardizing information like that. I can't believe it.
