Scanning with Photoshop
Good afternoon. I have an aluminum iMac 24" running 10.5.6. I use Photoshop CS3. I have an Epson RX680 all-in-one.
I started scanning OLD documents thru PHotoshop software at: Documents; 300 dpi. TOO MUCH. The documents looks horrible. I then switched to 72 dpi and they looked great. I am saving them onto a CD. Then I decided to print 3 sets for my relatives from the CD. HORRIBLE! The print is very fuzzy, hard to read. I'm printing on Staples white copy paper.
When I just copied the documents on the all-in-one, the copies looked great.
What am I doing wrong? Do you have a suggestion. I want a CD for the future, in case something happens to the originals AND I don't want to print a copy for all my relatives. If they want hard copies, they can make their own from the CD. BUT the quality is horrible, so it won't do them any good.
Thanks

Re: Scanning with Photoshop
Scan in at 300-600 dpi. Ignore what you see on the screen. Print it out if you don't believe me, it'll look fine.
At non-power-of-two zoom settings (anything but 200%, 50%, 25%, 12.5%, etc.) photoshop dithers the display funny and it looks like poo. If you just have it set to fit to screen or fit to window, it's probably something less mathematically convenient.
