Hey guys, I have a movie file .mkv and I need to downgrade the sound part, or convert it to AVI and will like to keep the 720p resolution on the movie file, is there a program I can do this?

My first shot would be Handbrake, but I've never tried an MKV.

I prefer avidemux. (I use the QT4 version from the downloads section...its just a different interface AFAIK).

Thank you guys, I tried all of them and I liked avidemux, I do need to learn how to tell it what resolution to export as.

Click the filters button below your export codec, there is a resize filter, as well as crop, etc. Also, like much open sourse software, avidemux isn't exactly user friendly (but it is really easy and fast to edit with), but they have a wiki that explains most issues. Not all audio and video codecs work well--or at all--together.
