Power Mac G5 Video Card

Is there a way to use a 1.25 DP MDD video card in a Powermac G5 1.8 DP?

Thanks,
Ron

Moved to Everyday Tech for better exposure - [MA] General is more for the gaming clans.

I think it'll work but I'm not 100% sure.

PCI-X G5s had AGP slots for graphics.

Yep, additionally all dual processor G5s are AGP models and 1.8 GHz G5 implies AGP as well!

So the answer is, yes, I think it will work OK.

I don't think it will. I've looked into this before and seem to recall that G5 AGP slots will not physically accept older G4 AGP cards.

I think Jonski is right, it does not seem to fit the slot !

Why would Apple do such a thing !!!!!!!!!!!

Who knows?? I think it was something to do with the way ADC was implemented on the G4s. Meaning, the G5 AGP slot is standard BUT the G4 AGP card is NOT and has extra connections.

Re: Power Mac G5 Video Card

The G4 AGP used 2 (IIRC) pins differently than normal AGP.  So while you could modify a standard AGP to work inb a G4 slot, the opposite is not true.
