Call of Duty 7 heading to Vietnam?
Apparently those lately hoping for such a game were anticipated.
While Infinity Ward is busy cranking out Modern Warfare 2 for a likely November 2009 release, not much is known about Treyarch's next CoD title. However, as a result of an article posted on That Video Game Blog, rumor has it that CoD 7 will move from the WW2 setting to Vietnam.
TVG has since taken the article down at the request of their source, but the gist of it is that Activision's been looking to license 1960's era music for the game, as well as Cuban, African, and Soviet music. More details can be found in this Gamespy article.

I'd much rather have seen IW do a Vietnam version. Treyarch, not so much.

Re: Call of Duty 7 heading to Vietnam?
Isn't this technically still 6 since Modern Warfare dropped the CoD title?
I played the SP demo of 5 on my 360 a couple days ago... it was terrible.
Painfully linear, little to no interactivity with the environment; the only control you have over what you're doing is deciding how to kill the badguy that's directly in front of you at the moment, who is immediately and continually replaced by a carbon copy until your objective is completed.
In 7 they should just make it all tank levels where you're stuck as the gunner so they can get rid of that pesky "strategy" involved with player movement once and for all
Anybody who buys anything from this series that isn't hardcore into multiplayer is throwing their money away.

Go play CoD4 before deciding the entire series is crap. You'll realize that the Infinity Ward developed titles are smurfing awesome, and then Treyarch developed titles are... average shooters, which makes them look like crap compared to the IW titles. IW did CoD/2/4 for comparison.

5 was worth it for the zombie levels.

I didn't really like 1 or 2 either, for largely the same reasons.
4 is on my list of Stuff To Buy (Eventually), but multiplayer is still the driving force there, and I'm not really that into MP anymore.

Well Ear, i'm not super nuts about 4 personally. Guess its because I played BF: Bad Company before I played CoD4. While BC isn't great in realism, the game experience for me was a bit more fun and it was graphically better in some areas. The AI in COD4 was too smart, literally they see you long before you are a target and most levels were very linear. You couldn't just make a hole in a wall or go around spots like in BC. Then the guns and weapons were blah. Specially sniper. Really seemed to me the big selling point of it was MP. I watched a few MP games but it didn't look like anything new to me.

CoD4 servers are still pretty popular, which I find impressive after what - almost 2 years since initial release & no new (official) maps? I can't see Treyarch's pathetic clone having that kind of lifespan, but since they'll ditch it for the next New Hot Version that's not surprising.

Re: Call of Duty 7 heading to Vietnam?
I really am not a fan of any of the CoDs I have played. They seemed way to linear to me. But then again I love sandbox games like GTA

Dual 2.3Ghz G5 (4G Ram, 2x 250G HD)(10.5 server)--- 400Mhz G4 PM (10.4 Server)

The multiplayer got boring and repetitive for me after a while. But I still replay some single player levels every now and then. The Sniper levels are, imo, the pinnacle of immersion in a game.
And I'm going to have to call you a n00b for saying that AI in CoD4 was too smart
. Game required some serious tactics for Veteran mode though.
