You Can't Have Gay Marriage Because We Can't Afford It
This has to be the dumbest attempt from allegedly intelligent people to argue against gay marriage. Really? Because it would hurt businesses to give more marriage benefits?

By this logic, we should also cut out anyone married under the age of 30 so we don't have to pay them benefits either. They'll probably get divorced anyway. Serves them right.

I'm not easily baffled by stupidity these days, but this really is beyond words.

I guess I should pray the gay away, marry a nice lesbian and pop out nine kids (cuz birth control is whack yo', the Holy See ain't down wit dat dawg). We'll see what that does to small businesses and health care costs...

What does religion have to do with marriage?
It is a secular contract.
Marriage was around a looooonnnggg time before there was ever any judeo-christian ceremony, etc.

As a general rule, encouraging family bonds is good for society. They promote stability and loyalty.
If anything, we need a 'divorce tax' to stem unwarranted divorces - charged only in no fault cases.
Of course, this is also a good reason to support gay marriage, even if you are homophobic. The more stable families, regardless of makeup, the better.

Leaving aside for the moment you would probably pay the same or less under the Fair Tax, it doesn't reflect very well on you as a proponent of more government services not wanting to pay your share for them.
