Re: Here's where you can get your daily dose of crud!
I continue to monkey with Dick Tracy.
Here's today's installment as it appeared in the various newspapers that still carry it:
And here's what I've done to it:
By the way, if you want to really have a good laugh, check out the two pages of comments from yesterday's (10 September 2009) installment:
http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2009/09/10/
There's this fellow by the name of Matt Hansel who is absolutely freaking out, going on long tirades against all who dare make sport of Dick Tracy's failings. He's even lecturing the proprietors of GoComics.com about how to run their business. The guy's apparently the Oberstgruppenführer of the Dick Tracy fan club or something, and he's quite the clown!

Whoa...
It's Max Hitler!
My comparison is valid, though. Matt Hansel is a frustrated artist with rage-control issues, and he will send the Dick Tracy Secret Police after you if you cross him!

Oh goody, the drama continues!
In today's (11 September 2009) comments, Matt Hansel accuses another commenter of having his wife's employer's HR department investigate him!

The guy reall is a wingnut!
Two exciting comments from him, both posted on 9/11/09:
Matthew Hansel said, about 2 hours ago
I would GREATLY appreciate it if everybody here would address me by my PROPER name, and not some variant of it.
OTHERWISE, I will take that as an OPEN invitation to call all of you by “cute” nicknames, and TRUST me, nobody wants that.
I will request ANYONE who calls me by anything OTHER than my proper name have their posts with “mattie” or whatever else you guys use, be deleted.
MPH
and
Liam:
Please remove “NotNormanChubsyUbsy“‘s comment flagged above. His “cute” nickname for me is offensive and derogatory. I have POLITELY asked that people use my proper name.
If his post is not deleted, I will take it to assume that GoComics endorses name-calling and the like, and I will develop nicknames for each and every person on this board–and will use them–and I will expect that GoComics will allow me to do so, since they CLEARLY tolerate this type of behavior.
Your prompt attention to this matter, as always, is appreciated.
MPH
These are two of his mildest, least confrontational posts.
I love crazy people.

If you've been following the current Dick Tracy story arc, you'll be familiar with everybody's favorite character. I have decided he's so popular that he deserves his own spin-off strip, so I am now proud to present...
DICK TIGER!

I don't think the current Tracy storyline has enough curvature to count as an arc. Mary Worth has literally had more action in the last two weeks than Dick Tracy in the last three months.

I could picture that guy googling his name and registering for these forums just so he can tell you to remove your offensive posts.

Mary Worth is truly awesome, btw.
It literally is about petty, dull, upper-middle-class white people and their dull self-induced problems.

That is a parody, right?
Or do they actually talk about meth labs in Mary Worth these days?

I think I'm no-longer on Matt Hansel's enemies list, 'cause I've had nice things to say about the new comic strip he's writing and illustrating, which is his homage to Dick Tracy, Bob Kane's Batman, and the classic era of superhero comics in general. Check it out:
http://www.apollocomicstrip.com/
Matt also has the following Sci-Fi story in the works, the first installment of which should be posted some time on Monday:
http://www.waterworld2151.com/
Meanwhile, a fellow named Roberto has whipped up the following "fan-fic," in which he attempts to tie up numerous loose-ends and explain the strip's recent weirdness by showing that the events of the last several stories have been nothing more than the feverish dreams of a comatose Dick Tracy:
http://24hourdicktracycomic.robertomacedoalves.net/
One of the regular commenters on GoComics.com pointed out that it's kind of amazing that the much-maligned Dick Tracy has now spawned at least four simultaneous comic strips from those of us who follow the strip. He was being very generous to include my humble effort in those four, I think.

Completely unaltered. That was Tommy, someone's no-good son who moved back to sponge off mama for cash to build a meth lab.
But nothing holds a candle to Aldomania.
