What webhosts do you recommend?
Anyone have a good host that they can recommend?
I'm using FatCow, and they have good service, but they hit me with a $15/quarter surcharge for a subdomain (and didn't tell me about it until I'd signed up and cancelled my old host). But now a year's gone by, and I'm thinking of moving.
Some requirements:
1) At least 5 email accounts
2) This is not a large site at all and not a lot of traffic. Right now, it has about 200MB on it, and maybe it'll grow by another 50MB this year. My total amount of website traffic for the month of May was 700MB. Most days average 20-25MB of traffic.
3) Don't need any database (at least not this year).
4) Would like email accounts to be able to store at least 20MB each.
5) Looking to pay $8-10/month if possible.
What other information should I include?
(I wonder what hunch.com will recommend.)

I got off of Godaddy because I could never log into the admin and administer my sites. Slow server response when I did get in. So I voted with my wallet and went to 1and1.
Besides, I hated the way that Godaddy wasted my bandwidth with all the freaking adds when I logged on to do admin. Their site navigation is oriented mainly toward selling you more, not in assisting your administration.
Oh and to make Basseq happy, go to the sticky thread here, and look at "What's a good hosting service?".

Yeah - I just use them for domain name management and SSL certs and it is painful each time.

Re: What webhosts do you recommend?
I have a private web hosting company, no paying customers, no interest in paying customers, but I've been in the business since 1994.
GoDaddy may be the worst web host in the business IMHO. Some truly excellent ones are Network Eleven and WiredTree. Hostgator is better than many but they will shut down your site in the blink of an eye for excessive use of resources.
1 & 1 is mediocrity perfected.

Re: What webhosts do you recommend?
It's definitely worth it to pay a few extra bucks and, in the long run, have a host provider that is trustworthy, efficient, and flexible. I have had good luck with Bluehost, as well as with Pronet. I guess, what it comes down to, for me, is customer service, and they're both pretty good in that regard. I would refer to this article on Pronet (see below) or just read other product/customer reviews. But, seriously, don't go GoDaddy. They just rub me the wrong way...

Also, out of curiosity, what hosting company do you have, militant atheist fag (love the screen name, haha)? I would be curious to talk with you about what you offer... May be shopping around in the future.
