Blatant cruelty to animals on YouTube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZv4TikR … re=related

First of all - I'm 99% positive the snake shown in a water snake of the genus Nerodia - completely harmless.

Secondly - it's a snuff video, showing the decapitation of an animal.

Now - if a venomous snake is on your property, while the proper thing to do probably is to call animal control - they will usually relocate it to an unpopulated area - I can understand killing it.

However, they don't just kill it, they taunt it first - and when they kill it, it is clear done with glee.

Videos like that make me sick. yet it has been on YouTube for some time.
I don't understand why they haven't removed it, they claim to not allow cruelty to animals.

I've seen acts of cruelty to dogs and cats that are far less severe removed.
I don't understand why that video hasn't been removed.

That is just cruel and unsightly. I want them locked up for life. Better yet kill them the same way they did to that snake and then post a video of their death on youtube. See if they like. Los bastardos. Se les regala la vida para que sean unos sinverguenzas asesinos. Hijos de la gran puta.

I did flag it, but I happen to know it has been flagged before by others yet google (who owns YouTube) leaves it. My guess is profit motive, lot of people view those types of snuff videos and since the animal isn't cute a furry, the community outrage is small - so google would rather try to get the add revenue than do the right thing.

I'm thinking of starting a web site showing blatant animal abuse cases on YouTube with the date they they were first flagged by me - should be good ammunition for groups like PETA if google doesn't start enforcing their own policies against cruelty to animal videos.

Hell - I may go one further and ask if anyone knows the individuals involved so they can be reported to law enforcement.

I agree with your sentiments but don't bring the Birkenstock Nazis into it.
The ASPCA would be better.

Re: Blatant cruelty to animals on YouTube

I saw a video of some guy (seemed like a kid based on how he was acting) feeding live mice to a snapping turtle. Needless to say there was a lot of decapitation and missing limbs as these mice floundered away trying to GTFO of the big-ass turtle's way. And it was all wrapped up with a super-tasteful music track.

It ended up being removed by YouTube, and I'm glad it was, as it was nothing more than the equivalent of a video game killstreak captured with Fraps. Nothing scientific or educational, just fodder for teenage goreboners.

Re: Blatant cruelty to animals on YouTube

This is one more reason it sucks that YouTube carefully buries their contact information where nobody can ever find it. If you click on "help" or "contact us" or something, and then click through about a thousand "help" pages designed to prevent you from actually contacting them, you will eventually arrive at a form you can fill out in order to write to them about this. I suggest that you do so, and provide them with links to the video in question, as well as to the channel page of the user who uploaded the video.

I seriously doubt that YouTube or Google feels any profit-motive to leave such videos on there. This is just a case of lame, corporate bureaucracy being lame, corporate, and bureaucratic.

Personally, I've flagged numerous videos of a similar nature, and I've written numerous letters of complaint regarding such videos, not to mention the occasional "white power" channel. Who knows if it does any good? It can't hurt though, and it's not like YouTube will even be aware of it if they don't hear from viewers like us.

Especially since snapping turtles readily take pre-killed thawed frozen mice, which are readily available and cheaper than live mice in most parts of the country.

Still?  I haven't seen Birkenstocks in a while.  I owned a pair though.  I was unimpressed.

On topic (both of them).  I find that youtube only cares that your "soundtrack" (is or) isn't copyrighted and that people who harm animals deserve to get trampled by rhinos.

My mom wears them - with socks.
I tried to tell her about fashion. She seems to care more about comfort, and informed me she gladly would wear shoes with socks instead if I could find her some shoes that were as comfortable.

Confession:

I wear birks & socks.

In winter/cold weather, good wool socks & birks.

Just around the house -not in public.
Works for me. The wool sock keeps my feet warm, but lets them breathe.

You should definitely do these things. I saw an article somewhere about the ten coolest cases of Internet vigilantism, and everybody working together has, in the past, resulted in such criminals being brought to justice.

I wear socks with my Birks, too. I have never understood the "taboo" against it, and frankly don't care.

Re: Blatant cruelty to animals on YouTube

I would love a pair of birks.  I've always generally preferred the look and feel natural materials to synthetic.  Give me a canvas bag and leather shoes.  They wear in in a fashion synthetics don't.

Re: Blatant cruelty to animals on YouTube

I could see myself wearing Birkenstocks if they were made of black PVC and came with five-inch platform heels.

Re: Blatant cruelty to animals on YouTube

Besides, the topic isn't blatant cruelty to feet, unless they belong to somebody who's got four of them.

Only in the M|LF forums could you go from animal cruelty to footwear in less than one page. up
