Fourth of July II: A Capital in Flames

I have no idea what I'm doing this weekend. Is anyone doing anything totally awesome / pretty neat / enjoyable / fills time that I can rip off?

I was thinking of bar-b-q-ing, but I don't have a grill, and all the parks will pretty much be full, so that's out. Can't really do fireworks, but the ultra-flammable forests of California have made it impossible to set anything off where I am.

My best idea so far involves watching Independence Day. I don't have the details worked out, but you can't go wrong with a landmark 1990s action film. Maybe I should do a double feature with Men in Black.

Okay, post over.

Independence Day?

You must really not want to enjoy the 4th.

One of the loudest movies I've ever seen, but not without its charms. No Brent Spiner 4 u?

Randy Quaid's "...I'm baaaaack!!!" was my fave.

I'll maybe go Ghostbusters as I have it, but... not a bad mid-90s nostalgia package, Pato.

Capital in flames?  Does that mean you want me to round up a couple dozen other Canadians and come and burn  your white house again?  wink

And the White House burned burned burned!
And we're the ones that did it.
It burned burned burned, and the president ran and cried.
It burned burned burned, I bet that made them mad.
And the Americans ran and cried like a bunch of little babies wah wah wah...
in the War of 1812.

Last time I checked, it was the british, not the canucks who burned DC.

Say what you will, but that was THE movie of whatever year that was. It was all "oh no new york is blowing up" and then "oh no that thing in LA is blowing up" and then "where's el toro" and "WELCOME TO EARTH" and then "lol he said that in jurassic park last year". Good times. Cheesy, really really bad, good times.
