I guess that would make little Levi a real smurfer...
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.

Oh, how I love your little predictions.
This isn't a prediction.
Just a funny feeling.
My predictions I generally have something, no matter how misguided, to base them on.
I got nothing for this.

Re: RUMOR: CNN apparently saying that Palin will resign
An opinion piece from FOX News offers some serious delusion on the matter:
Sarah Palin Outsmarts the Left
Sarah Palin's resignation as Governor of Alaska is a brilliant liberating move for her career, and a potential turning point for the national conservative movement.
Link.
Riiiight. That hastily thrown together, painful-to-watch press conference was the work of genius. Winners always quit!

There are many things that Sarah Palin is, and genius is not one of them.

There is apparently a rumor circulating that Palin is getting out of office ahead of an imminent federal indictment for embezzlement.

Moore later spoke by phone with BradBlog’s Brad Friedman and told him that “Palin is ‘resigning as part of damage control’ due to a scandal this is ‘not of a family nature.’”
That kind of pooches my theory.

Re: RUMOR: CNN apparently saying that Palin will resign
I would be quite shocked if this isn't due to some sort of scandal. I think the suggestion that this is some great political maneuver is ridiculous. Most people close to her had no idea this was coming, the speech was rambling and unscripted, and the notion that this somehow puts her in a good spot for a presidential run is silly. Oh, you served half a term as governor of Alaska before quitting--you're obviously qualified!

She's lost important leverage. Giving up the governorship should have been predicated on a plea bargain- a la Spitzer.

I am really going to be disappointed if she is knocked out of politics.
Seriously. She has been my favorite clown, better than Bozo.

Obama was a state legislator (in Illinois), and was elected senator (of Illinois) before being elected president four years later. He also went to Harvard law school and taught constitutional law. Alas, he could not see Russia from his house.
I'm pretty sure Palin finished college.
Surely there have been others with experience in executive roles, but I think Palin would have a difficult time making a case after quitting, for no obvious reason, two years early (while blaming it on the fact that she doesn't want to be a "lame duck").

Resigning as governor is a big deal. It doesn't happen every day.
Equating that with Obama's pre-White House career is absurd.

Re: RUMOR: CNN apparently saying that Palin will resign
[crosspost]
I noted three things while watching the speech:
- The references to "passing the ball" and the "political climate" really points to a big ass scandal about to be unleashed
- The references to spending time with her family, while hilariously clichéd, are more than enough ammunition against any future national run (she wants to be president but can't handle some photoshops on the internet without quitting and crying back to Wasilla?)
- My IQ dropped 6-7 points, you betcha!

You should ponder the life of an American, it's not looking too rosy.
I really have to wonder at the obsession with people out of power versus the ones we've currently got making the decisions.
