Re: What kinda connection speeds are you getting?

I should be hosting something, shouldn't I? Well, I do continuously seed my Demonoid uploads, so that's something...

But it seems like I should have a server and some porno sites or something...

Well of course your work connection is fast; they're using Lockheed missiles to send and receive those packets!

Re: What kinda connection speeds are you getting?

mrreet i think we should phone our lovely timewarner and bitch to them about how their roadrunner is suppose to be so fast yet competitors have 4x faster uploads. All those adverts advertising it x faster than so and so competitor are a total bs since it never mentioned the ul was slower than molasses. mb file a civil suit for false advert claims and help get a bunch of people out of their contracts from it.

I'd be curious how much these connections cost.

Mine's $40/month. DSL, no phone service.

Re: What kinda connection speeds are you getting?

I will never forgive Verizon for the royal screwing they repeatedly gave me when I was one of their cell phone customers.

Basic Comcast, 'bout half what Bren pays. Gave up TV some time ago.

Re: What kinda connection speeds are you getting?

Good for you!

All the TV I want to watch is downloaded from the Web, but Momski's addicted to Jeopardy, so she needs her Gameshow Network. Also, this town we're living in is surrounded by mountains, so it's always been understood that if you move to Pacifica and want to watch TV, you need cable or a satellite dish.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised we have running water and penicillin in this podunk little pit-stop.

Dude, the next time that Internet Guy sends you some SPAM, go ahead and check out his site! It's freaking hilarious! He's got this big, long recruitment video in which his face is all fuzzed out and his voice is altered like he's a criminal in the witness protection program, yet he's asking you to trust him, all the while assuring you that his "program" is not MLM.

Which it is.

But you don't find that out until you request further contact or do a Google search on his domain name or the subject line of his SPAM message, or look for him on RipOffReport.com.

Doing these things will clue you in to his dirty little secret:

He's selling Herbalife!

Bat: Momski is very happy now, but the major speed increase she recently experienced is an issue of processor speed, as opposed to ISP bandwidth.

I had to force her, kicking and screaming, to upgrade from a Lime, 333mhz iMac to a 1.33ghz PowerPC Mac Mini.

A 333mhz iMac running OS 9.2 no less, because she'd been too stressed and freaked out by having to adjust to anything being different under OS X.

Why a PowerPC Mac, and not an Intel?

Well, you see, Intels don't do Classic mode, and without Classic mode, you can't play Eric's Solitaire Sampler.

I tried to turn her on to Hoyle and Kitty Spangles, but she wasn't havin' it.

I understand they do make a version of Eric which is OS X compatible. I may look into getting that for her, as long as it's not too different from the Classic version.

Oy vey!

Rest assured, Bat, I have not forgotten your counsel to enjoy my parents while they're here.

Hell, at least the dear crazy lady got to see me quit doing dope while she's still alive. That was definitely not something anybody would have counted on seven months ago, least of all me.

What was the topic again?

Oh yeah, I'd been talking about my great speed connections!

wink

Re: What kinda connection speeds are you getting?

I thought my connections were respectably fast compared to my friends. They have connections speeds as fast as EDGE. Still I would love to go and use your internet Bren just to see what I am missing out on.

Good for you to quit your drugs; most importantly you got rid of some of your mother's suffering for you.

Is there an easier way to change goddam avatars. I thought the bug was fixed  but now I am having trouble putting cop lambo back. It was so easy to put sturner's crest.

Re: What kinda connection speeds are you getting?

Interestingly, I called Verizon today to add the rest of the HD channels to my already obscene line-up, simply because there are like 3 shows starting we want to capture. Thing is, the friendly Verizon rep mentions that I'll also be getting a bump to my Internets, from 10/5 to 25/15.

"Waiiiit a sec, is that another charge on top of the raping I'm already taking for the HD upgrade?"

"Oh no, it's just bundled with the extra channels."

Hmmmm, okay then! big_smile

Now, my (limited) understanding of the way the Fios MOCA setup works is, those add'l channels are likely going to take a toll on my overall available bandwidth, so I suspect the speed bump is to accommodate those, primarily. Anyway, the speed increase wont likely happen until Monday & I'll take another reading then.
