Looks like sooner than later. . . SL
Gold Master out. I guess this is a good indication it will be out in early September, like the 1st week?

Maybe it's time to get an Intel Mac (used or refurbed).

If you're still on PPC, then yes, it is time. Immediately.

Does SL not support G5?

Oh, cool! My parents' first computer is officially about to be obsolete next month, just before it reaches five years old!

I'm surprised, I figured it wouldn't ship until 9/30 - barely September. I have a first gen MacBook and will probably skip it. I can't run 64-bit or OpenCL, so there doesn't seem to be any reason to upgrade since I won't benefit from any of the major changes. Hopefully early next year I'll be able to replace it with something newer.
I also wouldn't consider a PPC obsolete - it will still run Leopard just fine for many years.
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.
