Here's another one, or actually a group of items:

Contraceptives, lubricants, and sex toys. I won't link to any examples, but modern technology and science have yielded tremendous improvements in all three categories.

I don't even recall whether cars in general have been mentioned in this thread, but regardless of how you feel about today's ugly, overly heavy cars, there's no denying that tires have improved tremendously compared to olden times.

I forgot about these, might have to get some - just for testing purposes -to see if they have gotten better.

Hey Res, I actually like the new grilled chicken, at least the wings are tasty, don't know about the drumsticks.
