District 9

When I went to suffer through Terminator: Salvation, they showed a preview for District 9, and I got super-excited, 'cause I realized it was based on the excellent short film, Alive in Joburg.

I've grown to hate the film industry lately, because even their most promising efforts always wind up being predictable, unoriginal, and lacking in substance. This one, however, is one that I have a really good feeling about.

Re: District 9

I am confused. What does D-9 have to do with Halo or Peter Jackson?

Re: District 9

If you imbibed a little more of Gaming than starting the occasional thread, and actually read a bit (particularly the posts of yours truly wink), you'd be better informed. In this case you'd've known well in advance about the D9/ Blommkamp short connection.

Jackson was to produce the Halo movie; Blommkamp was his chosen director. He directed a couple of game-connected shorts 2 years ago, and Jackson was prepping a game in the 'Haloverse' from '06 until it fell victim to budget cuts early this year.

See a bit of what all you're missing? Check out Elpato's sig while you're at it.

My Peggle skills have only increased.

I'm the freaking Anakin Skywalker of Peggle!

Other Peggle players see me coming and they concede defeat before the game begins, just to preserve their dignity!

And, of course, it goes without saying that I've mastered  Gutterball 3D!

You can use your GF's gaming PC.

Oh yeah, I forgot you guys started doing l4d...

Saw D9 yesterday, thought it was a touch more gory than I expected it to be. Lots of cringe worthy shots. Really liked the aliens' tech designs (yay Weta). I absolutely loved the robot power suit. We've come a long way from ED209.

I assumed "GF" meant "girlfriend."

I do, in fact, have a few good friends.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't think she wants me over there hogging her computer, especially since it would cut into her Wizards101 time.

That's because you still depend on a Dreamcast, sprout. (User is over a decade older, I'm... ballpark, and sturner, he's practically a trilobyte.... but we all play 'younger' than you).

I hear that Tetris game is is kinda fun... tongue

(About that linked game- I should mention NC'd have done better, but he spent much time hauling HH's chestnuts outen the fire. Cautious, he wasn't).

Funny you should mention that...

This movie is in-smurfing-credible. I don't even know what else to say about it. I walked out speechless and I'm still at a loss...in-smurfing-credible.

Re: District 9

District 9 Sequel a Possibility, Says Director Neill Blomkamp
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on August 18, 2009

“I would do anything to go back to the world of District 9 again. Or District 10.”

Director Neill Blomkamp would like to take a trip back into the world of District 9. Would you like to go with him?

In a series of interviews promoting his recently released sci-fi film, the 29-year old South African director stated in no uncertain terms that if the public wills it, he would like to take another shot at District 9 or perhaps, District 10. In an interview with Fangoria, Blomkamp explained that he would have no problem going back for a sequel: [etc]

Well, shucks, anything that makes money these days almost automatically means franchise.
