Re: Anecdotal Warning - Living in Glen Beck Nation
Id' rather they be on CNN or CNN Headline news. (although Headline news gets boring after a half hour).
Actually Discovery Channel would be even better. Why depress people more while they are waiting.

Re: Anecdotal Warning - Living in Glen Beck Nation
That's an interesting idea to see if they'd go for changing the channel. Typically the remotes are kept behind a desk somewhere, so unless I'm hunkered down for a bit, it's not really worth the effort, other than for experiment's sake. The real trick though is whether or not the TV will be on Fox again when I come back.

Re: Anecdotal Warning - Living in Glen Beck Nation
Beck isn't going anywhere. As someone earlier pointed out, the only thing that matters to Fox execs is that ad revenue comes in. The ads are merely aired during different shows. Fox loses no money, Fox still airs Glenn Beck. Nuff said.
The whole point of loosening FCC regs was to consolidate ownership to create an environment where de facto censorship takes place under the auspices of private property rights and then they say it's not censorship because it's FREEDOM of the media owners to air what they want. They are bound by no fairness doctrine and Fox isn't going anywhere.
Did anyone notice that bit where Rupert Murdoch's son is claiming the BBC is basically tantamount to big brother because it's state sponsored?
Fox will continue to function as a mouthpiece of the corporate oligarchy, Beck will continue to pander to people who couldn't find their arse with a mirror on a stick.

Well if you do it while brandishing your AK-47 it's ok, right? After all you would be showing that you support gun rights.

But if you do it while wearing a home made "Bush Sucks" T-shirt you will get arrested.

I find myself wondering what happens in open carry states if you tote an AK to a doctor's or lawyer's office, or past a police station, jail, school, Guard Armory...

There are no-carry zones. Areas where the presence of weapons is not allowed.
And private businesses can refuse you service if their policy is weapons free zone.

No guns allowed at my shop.
It came up once. I had to tell my chimney sweep to leave his 9mm in his truck.

In my experience, that's not a problem, and is typically encouraged.
I've found that it's usually the customers that are putting it on Fox News in the first place. If I wanted to change it to MSNBC or Discovery Channel, i'm pretty sure no one would care. Just as long as it was moderately "kid friendly" I guess...

We have a widow cleaner who wears a hat and spurs and keeps his squeegee in a holster strapped to his waist.
Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.

Yah, I pretty much knew that- but I'm not sure if everyone in those states know that. Especially with all the publicity about being able to go armed near the President.
Didn't it come up awhile back that you could carry your PPK into a TX bar, or was that only proposed?

Re: Anecdotal Warning - Living in Glen Beck Nation
Conspiracy theory of the day:
f you thought Glenn Beck's conspiracy theories couldn't get any more bizarre, you obviously don't watch that much Glenn Beck.
This time Beck is taking shots at the titan of American capitalism, John Rockefeller, accusing him of having been a secret communist. Beck knows this to be true because he has discovered all sorts of "communist" and "fascist" art on NBC headquarters at Rockefeller Center, as well as on land behind the United Nations that was donated by Rockefeller.
Trying to discern Beck's ultimate point from this is difficult but I believe it's something like: Rockefeller was an early American progressive, which actually means he was a communist, and they have connections to the fascists. And we know this because Rockefeller left clues to his true legacy with these communist art pieces which are hidden in plain sight, and since we have people in our own time who call themselves progressives they must actually be communists (possibly fascists?).
If this is bewildering to you, don't worry; it means you don't see conspiracies lurking behind around street corner. Also, Beck's icing on the communist cake is that the Rockefeller Foundation honored Beck's latest target, Obama adviser Van Jones. Got it?
Link.
Smart guy.

How many times does Beck have to proove his stupidity before it becomes accepted as a law of nature?

Re: Anecdotal Warning - Living in Glen Beck Nation
Oh, why not just call him a "clown":
Last night, Fox News Channel's Glenn Beck delivered the following soliloquy, "You know, I'd really like to share with you a personal story from today, but I can't, because it puts my family in danger. Do you think I want to get on the air every night and tell you this stuff? Do you know who I am? The media will say 'aw, he's just a clown.' Well you know what, I am a clown. I am a guy who just... I just want to have laughs and fun, I'm a capitalist, I want to make money, all that stuff. I want to live my life with my family. I don't want to have to live with security, and walls, and gates, and everything else. Do you think I want to live that way? Maybe there are some people like that. That ain't me. That is not me. I don't want to believe these things, but unfortunately I find them true."

Re: Anecdotal Warning - Living in Glen Beck Nation
By that reasoning, that Rockefeller was a progressive and thus a communist, that makes Abraham Lincoln a communist too.
