USB2 hub or USB2 pci card?
Thinking of adding another USB device and was wondering if getting a hub would be ok or would it be better to get a PCI card? I have a MDD 1.25 using 10.3.

if you have usb 2 onboard, just get a hub. if not, get the card.

Agreed. If you already have a couple of USB ports that would work, however, if your ports are USB 1 then the addition of a PCI card with USB2 would be beneficial.
Remember the speed of the port is only as fast as the slowest device or port (when chaining).
Since I have USB2 ports, I use USB2 hubs. I particularly like the Belkin stackables with a hole in them, that allows stacking of a 7 port hub, one on the other.

Is that a self powered hub or one that uses an outlet? Is there any difference in speed between the two?

There is no fundamental speed difference between a powered hub and an unpowered one. The powered ones just allow the usage of certain devices that the unpowered ones do not.
Also, yes the Belkin stackables are powered. Most hubs these days at least have a plug in for a a power adaptor. There are a few made for laptops that lack them though.

I'm thinking of gettting Cables to go' hi speed usb 2 hub 7 port. Has anybody used this brand?

Never heard of them.
This is the one that I have, as well as an older version.
