Snow Leopard - Aug 28

If it were possible to create a poll on ML, I would have. But anyway, I'll ask: who's getting a copy on Friday?

Not me. While I'm glad to see Apple has finally dumped the PowerPC burden I'm not willing to buy a new Mac at this time.

Re: Snow Leopard - Aug 28
Do I read this right. Although I'm running 10.5.8 and only need to buy the $35.00 Cdn. 10.6 upgrade, since I'm running old iLife and iWork programs, I get all three for $199.00 Cdn. Therefore saving $35.00 if I want/need the current iLife and iWork programs. My iWork is 08, with iPhoto at 7.1.5, iMovie 7.1.4 and iWeb 2.0.4.
Things are running pretty good. Any opinions as to if I'm really missing anything yet? Do I spend the big bucks or just stick with 10.6.
I know I'm spending on something this weekend. thanks

Re: Snow Leopard - Aug 28
I ordered from Apple about 15 minutes ago. I'll be jumping from 10.4 to Snow Leopard. I bought the 10.5 Box Set this past spring but never took the time to install it. Everything was working fine and I lost my job shortly thereafter. I'll use Snow Leopard as an opportunity to make a huge leap forward!

I plan on waiting in line at the Apple Store with all the other Mac freaks.
Then it goes straight onto my Hack Pro. Of course I don't plan on sharing that bit of info with my fellow line dwellers --I'd be burned at the stake!

Dammit Apple. $29USD is currently $31CDN, not 35! Ugh. Maybe the extra 4 bucks is the cost of shipping the disk across the border.

And translating it into Canadian.

I was one click away from ordering it from Apple, but decided I'll just buy it locally on Friday. It'll cost the same.

Waiting. Not ready for a new install on this MacBook quite yet, and the price will hold steady unlike that Win7 tease. I like to hear about everybody else's bugs & problems first too.

Re: Snow Leopard - Aug 28
Will wait a little while just to make sure it goes smoothly for others, but my Tiger running Mac Pro is itching for some Snow Leopard goodness.
I'm gonna buy a new hard drive and start from scratch. Fun times.
I have a moral conundrum to resolve though. I need to buy the box set for the Mac Pro, but also have a MBP running Leopard. I don't want to fork out for the family box set, nor do I really want to buy two SL packs...

Re: Snow Leopard - Aug 28
I'm probably also going to wait it out a little. In the meantime, I saw this from a blog:

I don't think this'll sway anyone's decision, but it's a feature I certainly didn't see coming.

Re: Snow Leopard - Aug 28
I guess I'll wait till the 28th to buy my new Mac Pro, Still thinking if I should A Mac Pro with
Two 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
6GB (6x1GB) - I know I can buy memory cheaper.
2 640GB Hard drives
ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB
Two SuperDrives
AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi Card
and a AppleCare Protection Plan
Total: $6,498.00
or a
A MacBook Pro 17-inch with Hi-Resolution Glossy Widescreen Display. (Is their Antiglare Widescreen Display worth the extra $50?)
3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
8GB RAM (only thinking of buying this from Apple since I really don't wanna open the laptop)
Their 7200 rpm 500GB Hard Drive
and of course the AppleCare Protection Plan.
Total: $4,198.00
or $4,248.00 with Antiglare Widescreen Display.
I posted the question in this thread.

Re: Snow Leopard - Aug 28
I just purchased a new MB Pro a few weeks ago. (It arrived here via mail on Aug 3 or so).
Anyone know if they're giving a discount to people whose computers just missed coming pre-loaded with the new system?
