Adobe Font: Your Serial Numbers?
I just purchased a font from Adobe, which I hadn't done before, and got an e-mail entitled "Your Serial Numbers" listing the serial number. I installed and used the font before getting that e-mail and it worked fine, no activation required. Anyone know what the serial number is for?

Re: Adobe Font: Your Serial Numbers?
I realize this might seem suspicious. Here's the e-mail I got from Adobe (with sensitive parts blacked out). I just don't know what (if anything) to do with it.

Beats me, perhaps it's for Proof of Purchase in case your machine takes a huge dump & you need to DL & re-install the font later? Maybe call Adobe or email & ask 'em. I'm moderately curious now.

Re: Adobe Font: Your Serial Numbers?
You never really purchase a font or any other piece of software. All you really have is a license to use it. While you do not need the SN to activate the font as you do with software, it still suits the same purpose.

Re: Adobe Font: Your Serial Numbers?
Ok, here's the reply I got from Adobe support. It seems they're outsourcing their support to a place where English isn't the first language. My name isn't Cheryl, BTW. Anyway, as far as I can tell, you guys are right.

while you install the purchased fonts in the PC it might ask you the
serial number to enter so that time you need to enter this serial
number.
