Snow Leopard issues?

Installed Snow Leopard on my 2nd generation 2.16GHz MBP. The thing flies now. However, after installation every time I opened a program I would have to type in my password as I got a message "Type your password to allow PlugSuit Agent.app to make changes". This message appeared even if I closed an app and then re-oppened it. I did a search in Spotlight and this program Afloat (never seen it before) appeared. I disabled it and have not gotten the message since.

This is the issue that I obviously discovered right away. Any other things going on?

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

The PlugSuit website indicates that it doesn't work with Snow Leopard and is required by Afloat.

There's a nice summary of working and broken apps under Snow Leopard at http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

I updated to DiskWarrior 4.2 and ran it. It revealed following mass of errors:
1) 5 files had directly entry with incorrect text encoding that was repaired.
2) Incorrect values in the volume information were repaired.
3) Critical values in the volume information were repaired.

Is Spotlight back to its more intelligent, less watered-downed Tiger self, that you can notice?

Spotlight works great here.

As does Airfoil which is also working 100% for me but is also listed as not being compatible on that link provided above.

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

I never had an issue with Spotlight to begin with. I can say that it is faster like everything else, much faster.

*edit* Sorry for the delete/repost.

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

just for funsies, and to add to the reporting...

so, i couldn't figure out what the hell was going. opened Activity monitor... no help.

[on a complete whim] popped open System Prefs and clicked the MobileMe button. that was fine. clicked the 'Sync' tab. and System Prefs gave me a BBOD.

force quit.

and BOOM. everything started working fine.

i'm gonna try and recreate it to see if its something with MobileMe sync or what. its odd, because with the other three Macs i've updated, i've had nothing but smooth sailing.

[edit] it started back again. hm.

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

Alsoft wont' resolve at the Disk Warrior page. Can't download the 4.2 version. This seems to be a problem of the site.

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

solved my first problem by following the directions here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jsp … ;#10065079

now i have a new issue: clicking the Sync tab in the MobileMe preference pane locks up System Preferences, completely. i have to force quit every time.

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

I only ran into one problem:
Little Snitch quit after the update.   So I updated Little Snitch.

Now I have no more problems.

Very happy!

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

Some of my utilities that load at startup had an initial problem, all resolved once I installed Rosetta.

Also, iStat Menus.
The good news is that both developers are aware of it, and at least "say" they will update them soon.

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

I don't have many problems anymore. Most of my apps were updated on the second or first day.

DragThing has been fixed. TextWrangler just got updated to 3.0. Other than that everything else has worked fine.

Unsanity's WindowShades is broken, but good. I know it’s a function of their APE, which many said was always a bad idea but I never had any issues running it, on several machines. Oh well, at home where SL is installed it was more of a convenience. At work, I consider it a necessity & that hardware will likely never see anything newer than Tiger  - hooray for cheap ass employers!!

Since coming to Mac, I had read up on ShapeShifter for theming. Hasn't been updated in a while, I guess it never caught on ?

Re: Snow Leopard issues?

Loaded Snow Leopard and all of my MS Office 2008 software get hung up on my iMac but NOT on my MacBook. Just get the spinning rainbow wheel (I even let is spin for 90 minutes... hoping beyond hope!). Also reloaded Rosetta to no avail. Used disk utility to no avail. Shut down and rebooted to no avail.

Any solutions?

Wondering to see if your printer model is compatible? (Yeah I know, Software Update will kinda tell you that too.)
