Snow Leopard Horrible-ness
http://news.cnet.com/8301-19882_3-10322624-250.html
article wrote:
It is unreasonable to expect that every single app and utility that a user is running will survive an operating system upgrade, no matter which company is behind it. And as iStat developer Edwards says, "Many [developers] probably wanted to wait for the final, shipping OS version before releasing updates so they could make sure things worked with the public release." Still, it does appear that Apple made things more difficult for developers by moving the release date for the product up a month from when people had been expecting it. It may have looked like a great marketing move, but it left developers, especially the smallest, more resource-constrained, unable to hop on board.
The list of apps that the article highlights seem to be small tomatoes in the scheme of things.

Horrible-ness might be a bit strong. How about, "Putting developers in a bind"? Most major apps work, and that's what most people need. I wouldn't call iStat and Growl mission-critical.
I'm more interested in how the dust settles post-Windows 7.

Re: Snow Leopard Horrible-ness
I was amazed at how many of my apps crashed on opening: PlistEdit Pro, RapidWeaver, Firefox, Boxer, etc. I was able to download updates and get functionality, but that's just to say that the developers were working overtime.
I do love the new feature which allows me to activate the scanner from within Preview. I used to have to reinstall HP Photosmart All-in-one every time I reinstalled the system. Now I can trash that lousy app bundle.

Meh, Every point release has always had issues. The wise always wait till the .1 updater.

I love your complement Pariah. Still running 10.5.7 here.
To be honest I would't be forced to wait till later if it weren't so damn far. Though I did want to hear about all the bugs first.

Well ya. dot zero bugs have been the name of the game since...well..forever.
I always think .0=Public beta.

This is stupid because not everyone has had problems. My install went smoother than any OS upgrade I've done. Even the WWDC builds. It was the most impressive upgrade process I've ever seen.

M-Audio is spotty with Mac compatibility updates as far as I can tell.

Airfoil has suddenly stopped working. It is listed as having issues, but worked for awhile but no longer.

Re: Snow Leopard Horrible-ness
All audio interface companies are spotty with drivers. Same for video interfaces. Production machines should not be upgraded until you are 100% sure everything will work. smurf my edit machine at work is still on 10.5.7 because I am mid project.
