Faulty L2 Cache
I have a 400MHz CPU board from a G3 Lombard. It has a faulty L2 cache chip. I am told that the only remedy is a replacement CPU board. These are becoming extremely rare.cannot the faulty board be repaired?

If you can get identical chips, and replace them, then in theory yes.

Re: Faulty L2 Cache
It can be repaired, however the labor cost to do the repair would usually make it not worth it on that age machine. These chips can't be hand soldered. Best bet would be to find a Lombard on craigslist or ebay with a cracked screen or other damage to get the CPU board out of.
