Re: For the SFF DIYer
I am, but I'm quite happy with my current rig.
And except for my aged (single) video card, I have more gear in my mATX case than most people put in their ATX behemoths, so...

Re: For the SFF DIYer
Yeah, you just wait'll I cobble enough together for a platform upgrade. Meanwhile my video's not gimped, and neither is audio.
Anyhoo, Core i5 has hit and is becoming the preferred bang/buck solution:
Lynnfield hits Newegg
As promised, Intel's new Lynnfield CPUs have arrived at our favorite online retailer, Newegg. The site lists the Core i5-750 for $209.99 -- a $10 premium over Intel's official distributor pricing -- while the Core i7-860 sells for $299.99 ($14 more than Intel's distributor pricing). Finally, the Core i5-870 is offered for $579.99.
All of the CPUs are offered with free shipping included.
Newegg currently lists 3 P55 motherboards so far, the ASUS P7P55D EVO, which sells for $189.99, Gigabyte's flagship, 24-phase GA-P55-UD6 which is listed at $249.99, and finally, the MSI P55-GD65, which carries the lowest price tag at $159.99.
Like the CPUs, the motherboards are being offered with free shipping.
http://www.firingsquad.com/news/newsart … chid=22110 Wonder if Newegg Canadia has 'em yet?
