Not alsong the same people begging for lower taxes keep supporting expensive wars to protect their freedom and are now yelling at Obama to end increasing costs in healthcare (maybe) which hurt their freedom, so they feel.

I wonder--are there different groups involved the planning of these events?  Different sponsors?  What about politicians--are politicians invited to speak at these events?  Perhaps these events are advertised online--maybe even on certain places on television.

All nonpartisan, then?  No discernible ideology on display?

This guy isn't really wearing that T-shirt to the rally because it's a Lynard Skynard t-shirt, he's wearing it because its a abstract design that duplicates a Confederate battleflag. Which is the rallying point for racists in political arguments.

Um - you are aware that many blacks in the south also wear a confederate battle flag.
Sure, many of them don't, but many of them do. Especially in the country music scene.

I've seen it several times here in California, primarily country music fans and at Rodeo's (I use to go to the Rodeos when I was in high school)

Well into the 20th century, at least in the Deep South, Confederate Memorial Day was celebrated as a preference over the Fourth of July... just to show how treasonous they were in a cultural sense.  And as my link states, it's not just race -- South Carolina didn't even want to give women the right to vote and failed to ratify that amendment for another 50 years.
