Exporting/compressing a movie for dual-layer burn?
Hey all,
Maybe this is a simple fix, but maybe not. I exported a movie last night under the 'Best Quality DVD - 90 mins' compressor option for a project that I'm hoping to burn onto a dual-layer DVD; preferably at around 8 - 8.5gigs.
Instead the file came out at 4 gig, even with the 'Best Quality' option selected, are there any suggestions on how to export this movie via FCP compressor to around 8 to 8.5 gigs for a full-quality dual-layer DVD burn? And anamorphic as well?

Do you have a problem with the visual quality of the 4 gig file? Depending on your video you may not benefit from a larger file size, particularly if you have many frames that stay the same.

Its a recut I did of an action movie, lots of swinging/shooting/car chases. I'm also going to be watching it predominately on a 42'' HDTV, where the imperfections of a lesser-sized burn are sure to show themselves moreso.

How long is the movie? (Hours/minutes/seconds)

Re: Exporting/compressing a movie for dual-layer burn?
Total runtime is 1h39m for the file.
As far as the quality, I know it could be better. I compressed out a bigger file size earlier today, it came in at about 5.64gigs, and it was a definite improvement. I'm really curious if there's a way to fine-tune it within the compressor settings in FCP. I've seen editors on windows-based dvd-authoring programs fine-tune the bitrate, I just don't know how to do it with compressor, or if it's possible.
