How to open .rar file?
I d/l'd a file through a friend's upload site, and it's a .rar file. Is this some kind of non-MacOS compression?
If you look around the table and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you.

You can also use UnrarX:
http://www.unrarx.com/
If you ever find yourself downloading a file which has been broken up into several rars, just unrar the first one, and it'll automatically move on to the next ones and assemble them all into one piece for you.

Expander has very weak rar support.
I have tried them all and the very best rar utility is MacParDelux:

MacPar works great for me. I'll vouch for that one also. It supports mutliple RAR files, and the original RAR(s) disappears after you expand it.

Been a fan of The Unarchiver for a while now. I'd ditch Stuffit Expander completely if people would learn that OS X has built-in compression, and it's a LOT faster than Stuffit is any more.

The worst thing about Stuffit Expander these days is all the hoops they make you jump through just to get it. NO, I don't want to pay extra for your full suite of products, and I don't want to give you my e-mail address, and it's super-annoying that I can't download it until after you e-mail me a download link! Just gimme the damned software!

Yeah, I used to have the FTP where you could sneak in & grab the latest version, but once the Alladin part went away so did that FTP apparently.
