Flash and PPC
Well, with the release of Snow Leopard, I've decided that I'm going to need to do some work to get my PPC machines to continue being everything I need them to be and more. I can't afford and Intel machine, and am not about to let my G4's (tower or 12'' PB) slowly become useless. They do everything I need them to do, with the exception of some little annoyances. The number one issue that I've run into lately is Flash performance with PPC Macs. I don't
I did some research, and have realized that Flash 10 pretty much blows for anyone on a PPC machine. From what I've read, they pretty much got lazy and decided to not write good PPC code.
I'm downloading Flash 9 to roll back to right now, but am wondering is anyone knows if any of the builds work better than others (is the "newest" Flash 9 the best one to go with?). I just ran the Adobe uninstaller for Flash 10 on my PB, and am about to install Flash 9.
I want to see how Youtube and the like does on the PB (1 ghz, 768 mb) with Flash 9, and compare it to Flash 10 on my tower (dual 1.8ghz, 1.5 gb). The Powermac seems to have enough brute force to get through all but the most intensive online videos (with FL10), but the Powerbook is downright abysmal with it.
