I just want the schools in Texas to stop having a pledge of allegiance to the State of Texas.
For one, it conflicts with the Pledge of Allegiance to the US. Second, I am a resident of texas, not a citizen. Texas isn't a sovereign nation.
So why the upset about the song?
I'm not dead yet.

Not quite. Technically, you are a citizen of both according to the 14th amendment.
State citizenship usually refers to citizenship of one of the states of the United States of America. Citizenship was initially defined by Article 4 of the United States Constitution, and later clarified by the 14th Amendment, which states: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

It's absolutely hilarious that this is the LEAD story on FoxNews.com. Perhaps I shouldn't say "story"--there's no actual 'story' there, just the video, the lyrics, and one or two opinion pieces.

They tried to contact to you to find out what should be the lead story but they got voicemail.
Perhaps you should leave the a second contact number.

For what it is worth, on their web site it is currently third.
I think what they do is as they add stories, previously added stories get bumped down.
Please remember that internet media and print media are different.
With internet media, some people check several times a day, and you want that, so you don't have a "lead" story - you change the top story as stories are added making the site more useful to people who visit multiple times a day.

For what it's worth - I've had fox on all day (background noise) and heard nothing reported on it.
Mostly they've been talking about the Israeli speech today, the terrorist arrest, and the a few other bits (like the kidnapped girl who re-surfaced).
Right now they are reporting news. The part that is to a larger extent fair and balanced.
I expect not much on this will be reported until Beck and Hannity are on.

I don't really care for it. Then again, most of the folks who watch FauxNews and would raise a huge stink over this are often the same ones who want these same children singing similar songs about Jeebus in public schools.
I'd like to see the Pledge of Allegiance go away entirely. It seems awfully authoritarian for what is supposed to be a democratic republic. The very idea of an oath of allegiance seems so 1984ish.
Oh, and what ever happened to questioning the President in a time of war being unpatriotic?
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.
